Do i need to dump clutch to wheelie the big 400ex or is just throttle gonna be enough i have a 400ex ive only wheelied electric quads/bikes and a mini bike thats clutchless im gonna be taking the 400ex out next week and i wanna learn to wheelie it in 1 day

Definetly favors left hand, don't really know why, it seems too pronounced to be solely rotational engine torque but there is for sure the ghost of right hand turns, maybe not so much under full power turn. Never have figured this out, just be one with the spirit...

Less aggresive rear treads will help you get the ' steer with the throttle' touch

I currently got 08 Yamaha yfz450 with full Dasaracing exhust with cold air intake and up graded the jetting as well that was stiage 3 kit combo from Dasa racing 😁👌

I've owned a Raptors 350, 660, 700 and YFZ 450's and the raptors are great if you want general trail riding. The clearance is higher, the torque is great for climbing, getting through some mud, etc. 450's are built for racing on the track. That's what you'll get out of it.

What tires do you run on the 400?

I could ride it. You need to use the throttle to turn at speed. Drift it through the turn. Stand on the pegs and lean forward going up the hills. You have to move your body like crazy.

If you want some good hill climbs come down to ky and ride with my crew. Better bring the 450 raptors don’t do great on these hills they are top heavy but you may surprise me.

Having very grabby back tires is a bad idea. Get something that slides easily as that is the only way you can turn.

No way that 400 pulled on that 450. I had a 700r best friend had a 450 and his cousin had a 400 he was always last. Good thing about them 400 though seems like you can give it the beans and it not pull up like the 700r and 450 but I just lean forward and always won every race but much respect to the 450 a beautiful machine. Definitely going tomorrow to get my 5 year old this 110.

In 1986 I bought two 350X's new. In crates even. They were for Sand Dunes at Silver Lake, Michigan. So much fun.. had them for 5 years then... kids came and our ability to camp & dune with two little daughters in tow. Sold them for a sand rail with 4 seats. 350X's were awesome. Solid and dependable. Pretty rugged. A little leavy for serious air but tons of suspension for some air. Thanks for the memories.

Question: How much harder or getting used to does it take for these new thumb throttles? when I used to ride atv's they had the same throtles as a motorcycle but now they are all thumb. I just bought a atv earlier this year as im getting back into it, ended up with a cfmoto with an automatic tranny. I want a raptor but the new thumb throttle control is weird to me.

Also , for down hill off camber turns , I used to wrap my right around the grip , and use my index finger on the throttle ...gives you way more control....I'm 56 and grew up on these engineering masterpieces...they are by far my favorite off road rides....any 3 wheeler.. would take them into places today's machines would really struggle...if make it at all...

For the down hills , just get all the way to the back of the machine, Ride the back tire...they will fallow the terrain , put the front it in the lowest point of the trail , to a point...once you learn them , there's no turning back...down hill , right turn is very tricky...
