Question, how long is the speargun, and how thick the shaft, that you use only one band?
@WettieNZ
@WettieNZ 15 күн бұрын
Vary between 6.5mm and 7mm shaft, single 16mm rubber. 130cm speargun in this video.

I noticed that you have a nylon shooting line that’s attached to the reel line. I normally just use the dyneema. What’s the reasoning behind your setup? I’m sure you have some method to your system 😊Cheers, from the 11C South Island

Mono tends to shoot far quicker and with better accuracy then Dyneema. Not as good abrasion wise but better overall for shooting with.

I actually came up with the idea 20 years ago so you don’t have to pay for extra luggage while travelling. I like spear gun over 2 meters. I believe the longer the gun the less you miss to kill a fish. 3 meters is my dream gun. For a Aitutaki Cook Islander

I love how you guys use super simple guns. Not necessarily a comment about the travel guns but your normal railgun setup with one band. Idk it just speaks volumes about how people tend to overcomolicate equipment imo
@WettieNZ
@WettieNZ Ай бұрын
Sometimes simplicity is best! Lower profile makes aiming easier, single 16mm rubber results in low recoil and good shaft speed.

Can you do a video on how to find the offshore locations? I live in a foreign country and have a small boat. It’s great fun but short of seeing other boats in certain areas I’m really clueless on scouting spots. Is it just word of mouth or do you guys have techniques using a sounder to find offshore spots?
@WettieNZ
@WettieNZ 2 ай бұрын
It pays to spend plenty of time in the water swimming and diving. Then you can cover plenty of ground to find fishy spots. Look for changes in the bottom structure, often fish like hanging around gradient and composition changes in the bottom.

Love my Wettie float boat. Beats having my fish eaten by bull sharks. We have the bigger float boat and had a big Spanish pull the whole thing under which was interesting. Thanks for the video, love the Wettie stuff...
