Worried about acclimatisation? Dont take the easy and quick option of flying in to Lukla. Trek in from Jiri like all the original great expeditions. Youll need more time but the hike up to Lukla is worth it and by the time you reach Lukla youll be well acclimatised. Lukla has become a bit of a tourist hotspot for people wanting an Everest base camp quick fix
@motohoboАй бұрын
Everyone thinking Lukla to base camp is THE trek😂. It used to start in Jiri and you walked in from there. Lukla exists because big expedition groups wanted easier and quicker ways of getting supplies in to the region. Quicker and easier. Lukla has now become a tourist airport for people who want a quick fix taste of Everest base camp. I walked in from Jiri 24 years ago and the trail from Lukla has changed dramatically. Things were changing and not for the better even then. Now it resembles a holiday resort more than the beautiful natural environment it once was😢. Decent video though.

Hi James, im looking at doing ebc next October 2025. One company im looking to book with charge £2250 but g adventures are changing £1300. From your experience can the extra £1000 be justified. Thanks.
@JamesBTravelАй бұрын
I definitely wouldn’t go higher than £1,300. Even that’s at the upper end of prices. Local companies will charge less, but you’re paying a premium for G Adventures (who I’d highly recommend). I wouldn’t pay anywhere near what that other company is quoting. Hope you have an amazing time!

A couple of years ago, my wife and I made it our top bucket list item to do this trek. It fell off after a knee injury I had 1-1/2 years ago but your vid just gave us the course correction to get on it again. Props to you on such a quality production. We have our own small channel @ayeartovolunteer and know how challenging it is to take the time to put something like this together for the benefit of others. Thanks for that and safe journeys ahead! Oh, and we'd do this solely to try and bring back as much rubbish as we can. It should never have been left there.

What a wonderful video. Little (and relevant) commentary. Little of the towns and villages , but showing off the amazing scenery. I loved the bluebells. Far too many videos are so self absorbed, so yours was a very pleasant alternative. I made it to Tyndrum in April, probably not much before your visit. If any video encouraged me to return, then yours did. As and when i do, i shall take it slower and immerse myself into the scenery and surroundings so much more. Thank you for sharing

Thanks for the nice content James! Would you say completing the WHW in 5 days (~30k per day) is possible? Considering one is in good shape / does marathon running and mountaineering.
@JamesBTravel3 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s definitely possible, a lot of people do it in 5 days. Especially if you take the ‘high road’ by Loch Lomond rather than the much longer and tougher ‘low road’.
