Great video. I would have liked to put in some real numbers into the formula as an example so that even slow headed like me have the penny drop. Your explanations were good, it's just that I need to go this in my head round for another couple of times to really understand it.

Oh, wow. segeasy seems to be well-named. That looks very simple to make exact segments once the sled is made. Thank for sharing!

Beautiful work. I’d really like to try this. Typically I center my rings by doing my glue-up on the lathe. Putting my ring on cole jaws on the tail stock with my piece on the headstock, then gluing them up and sliding the tailstock to press the rings together. Is there any reason this wouldn’t work for making sure it’s perfectly centered?

Incredible. Planning to try myself. Will not have the sleds, and so will not attempt a strict pattern. The feature itself is wonderful

I can’t believe that your stop can say be set at 1.5 inches and your segment will come out at 1.5 inches. That will only work at 90 degrees.I can not see it working at other angles! It’s like taking 50 steps to cross the road at 90 degrees and to cross at 45 degrees it will way more than 50 steps, same principal!

I built the wedgie sled but for the life of me I can’t set it up for only six segments, anyone know how to do that? Thanks. Jack.

Another turner has a stop similar to yours and he says the same as you that if you set the gap between your Teflon stop say 1.250 you segment will be 1.250 That can only work if your wedgie sled is set at90 deg. I,ve tried it at 22.5 and the segment long point to long point won’t be that length because your advancing it on an angle.Am I wrong ! Thanks Ed could you please reply,

Seen parts 1 - 3 now Ed, once again thank you for taking the time time out to video, post and share. I've subscribed and given the thumbs up to your videos. I look forward to any more you do in the future, I'm more than aware of the time involved - just to let you know it really is appreciated. The knowledge you imparted will not go to waste from me, I'm already planning segment bowl number 1. Regards and best wishes. Tony.

I like your stop design better than Jerry's. And your calibration step seems to make more sense too. I'm trying to figure out how to make a stop that will accomodate longer segment dimensions and it's wracking my brain.

I guess you could do the same with a one piece solid board and cut it into a circle. Save the step where you have to cut an insert?
