I like the idea of an atoll in Seychelles that's basically a retirement home where a bird species can go to stop flying. It's sorta like Mackinac Island where they don't allow cars, except it's entirely different, actually.

Sorry guys, but the creature on 1:32 is not a stalked crinoid, but a sedentary polychaete in a tube... Stalked crinoids nowadays are exclusively deep water and couldn't be found by scuba divers...😢

What if these birds crossbreeds and are like feral pigs where when they enter a certain area, their recessive genes or different methylation pattern on phenotype expression become active. When they enter a different environment, the environmental stress forces them to activate or de methylate enough genes to make their offspring express a different phenotype. If that’s the case then these birds never really went extinct as much as the phenotypic variant went dormant as there were no environment that could utilize it.

No. No no no. You don't get to just casually host this episode rocking one of the best leather jackets I have ever seen and not talk about it. Where did you find that amazing piece of clothing?!?

Haha! Thanks! I got it at a shop in Las Vegas (I think it was called "One Monarchy"). I am a little worried if I put a pin in it in just the wrong way I will destroy the mesh, but it does look so dang cool! - Sarah

Yall are so dumb. It didnt "re-evolve." It never evolved in the first place just like it never went extinct. And ever notice that Darwin's finches are ALL FINCHES that doesnt prove evolution. Thats called adaptation. Animals can adapt to the environment. But they CANNOT evolve into another creature entirely to try and survive. Its honestly such a ridiculous thought. Animals ARE NOT POKEMON!

Unfortunately, degloving is not unique to Acomys. I once had a roommate who's rat did this. It happens in other rodents too. Spiny mice were popular in the pet trade in my area about 20 years ago; they made for decent pocket pets.

0:54 the bottom left is 100% a brachiopod, likely in the order Rhynchonellida (Lepidocyclus?). The rest are crinoid bits. Thanks for the great content! Edit: changed the timestamp
