Actually the main point of an opposed piston engine is a lack of valves and their drive. Which theiretically gives more efficiency due to of no need to drive valve springs. Did you try not to use the valves? It's really interesting, if it would be possible to make it work without intake blower.

It could been converted to a oil wick method of oiling the grooved bearing. The wick was about 6" long, draped over and into the bearing notch, then each end went into the oil reservoir. One i had i think was converted, the lower flip top was for filling and full gauge. Nice motor.

Hello I bought the plans for this engine, did you flywheel the engine at diameter 2.25 or larger? thank you
@mrcatdoc5 жыл бұрын
I first made them to plan, I felt they did not carry enough energy so I made them bigger. Also you should make a decent sized intake plenum the air fuel will mix better and you should get much better throttle response. Also you need a bigger cooling system and you need to pin the heat shafts better than what the plans call for

@mrcatdoc5 жыл бұрын
This is a 2 cyl opposed piston engine. I run it on Coleman's white fuel with a little 2stroke oil mixed in. During WW2 a German company, Yonkers manufactured a diesel version that was used in bomber aircraft. I wouldn't call it a toy, but the purpose of machining every part by hand and assembling the engine and seeing it run is for my enjoyment!
