12 mm rope is too large for the descenders and ascenders in this kit, I would recommend 10.5 or 11 mm lifeline. Cost for the complete with 200 meters of rope would be $2350.00 If you have further questions or would like to place an order please email [email protected] or call/text 757-435-0407. Thank you.

I can already hear the outraged roofers who insist they don't need safety gear to roof something like this. Because hitting the ground really hard is far more preferable to working safely, and I'm sure your General Liability and Workman's Comp insurers will just look the other way when the claim is investigated. Oh, wait...roofers like those don't HAVE any insurance. Remember, customers, when you get a quote for roofing or anything else, get a copy of their Certificate of Coverage and VERIFY it with the issuing company/agent shown on it. If the contractor won't provide it, RUN AWAY!

The main difference is a factory-built fireplace is a built-in unit, installed within the construction of the home. A fireplace stove is a freestanding unit that can be burned with the doors open (like a fireplace) or closed (like a woodstove).

@@RooftopSafetyUSA Thanks for the reply - The battery shut down after 2 hours the first night and i switched to wall power as I was at home testing the new ES-960 battery. Humidifier and heated hose are turned off. On night 2 it shut off again after about 2 hours. This time I turned battery back on and reset it to 24VDC and it ran for about 3 hours. I reset the battery again and made it until morning - about 2 hours. On both nights of testing the battery still shows almost a full charge after use. The cord I used for these 2 nights was the supplied Airsense 11 cord that came with the battery. I also have a 12VDC cigarette lighter plug/adapter that plugs into the 12VDC and puts out 24VDC - I am going to try this cord tonight to see if the problem is originating from the cord included with the battery.

I’ve been an inspector for OSHA. While I’m glad this guy recognizes fall hazards, this setup would not comply with 1926 standards and OSHA will likely issue serious violations for doing it this way . First of all you never tie off to a vehicle because the vehicle can roll away or be driven away. The attachment point has to be in the center of the back. There must be an arresting device that both limits the free fall distance and G forces on the body. And the anchor point to the fence is not going to withstand the required 5000 pounds of force. This guy has great intentions. If he reads this comment I’d encourage him to get in touch with OSHAs consultation program and go through their fall protection standard class.

I probably should have stated in the video that this demonstration was prepared for a presentation to the National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG). NCSG has been working with OSHA for more than 10 years to receive recognition for procedures commonly used in the chimney service industry. In December 2023 NCSG & OSHA reached agreement on numerous items, and this video illustrates those points. You can review the full agreement between NCSG & OSHA here: www.ncsg.org/assets/docs/NCSG%20%20Settlement%20Agreement%20-%20Final%20Executed%20-%2012-1-23%20003.pdf The agreement allows attaching the lifeline to vehicles, to 4 x 4 posts (fenceposts), trees and chimneys among other things. Front attachment of the lifeline has been permitted for a long time when free fall distance is limited to 2 feet. (1910.140(c)(22) ) This is accomplished by minimizing lifeline slack which is a hallmark of training in the chimney service industry. Also by minimizing lifeline slack the anchor forces are extremely low, no where near 5000 pounds. Plenty of tests have shown that with 2' or less of slack the fall forces rarely exceed a few hundred pounds, but that varies somewhat with roof type and pitch. The procedures illustrated in this video were intended for use by chimney service technicians working on residential homes where no fall protection anchors are installed. The methods in the video show a way to access a roof with fall restraint/fall protection from beginning to end. No need to figure out how to safely access the roof ridge to install an anchor that homeowners don't want screwed or nailed into their roof anyway. Also no need to remove the anchor after work is complete, attempt to prevent leaks in the roof, and then figure out how to get back to the ground safely.

I'm a general contractor who is very familiar with OSHA rules and regulations. While I think your video is certainly better than nothing, I believe that this video must be intended for homeowners because this method is not compliant with OSHA regulations for construction workers. The ladder must extend three feet beyond the landing surface (roof edge), the attachment point for the harness has to be centered in the back between the shoulders, and you have to have an arresting strap on the harness. For your reference see 1926.502 and 1926.1053.

After the usual research, I ordered a Petzl Rig (model D021AA00, manufactured from 2018) from Amazon that was advertised to accept ropes between 10 and 11.5mm. This is confirmed on Petzl's website where on a technical details PDF it very clearly states (in a few places) that the Rig's rope compatibility is 10 - 11.5. In the details around certification it states that rope 10.5mm can be used in PARALLEL. All other certifications provide for ropes 10-11.5. I'd suggest that either you have an earlier version of the Rig which had different specifications and certification, or you have it wrong. Since you seem to reading from the equipment itself, the former is most likely. But, despite your publication date of 2019, nowhere do you make this distinction and so the video is, for current purposes, misleading.

Great tutorial. I really like the idea of using the RidgePro as an anchor point for my rope & harness versus tying off on ground anchors or a tree on the opposing side of the house due to the potential time saved during set up. I noticed the hook moving side to side and up and down during your initial ascent. I know that technically we should fasten the hook to the roof, but if we don't, do you feel there is a high risk of the hook bouncing or slipping off during our ascent with our rope? Have you ever experienced the hook coming out of position when attempting to ascend the roof?
@RooftopSafetyUSA
@RooftopSafetyUSA 9 ай бұрын
Hello, I have not had the RidgePro dislodge or even make me think it was going to. The key is to make sure you are pulling down and not up. You need to be careful when you get near the ridge to make sure you aren't lifting up on it. If I am going to be spending time near the ridge I prefer a lifeline over the roof to a sturdy anchor on the ground. I can set and secure a lifeline in under 10 minutes so it isn't that much trouble to do.

The RADS method requires something like a Petzl Rig, a small pulley and a toothed ascender like you have. It gives you a 3 to 1 mechanical advantage, and gives you a very easy way to repel back down. Also use a friction-saver over the ridge to protect your rope, and the roof. Take care and bless you :)

So this looks like it will work for 5 days at least. And thanks for the advise on the humidity HME. That works!. But the key to the whole thing is using a 12V cpap. For example I also have a Airsense 10 and that is 24v so it probably draws more electricity. PS to everyone: The 450P has been recalled by Philips. I've read online that people just removed the foam inside and that did not affect the noise. PPS: The Dreamstation 2 is a 12v cpap but physically larger than the 450p because the humidifier is not detatcchable.
