No modifications to the tensioners, just the supply tubes from the head to the tensioners. The 87+ tubes have to be bent/twisted to get them to line up

So I tried this and the nut stripped on the bolt after about 1” of progress. Now what?
@cjensan6 ай бұрын
If the threads on the pin are still good, use a new nut, or the nut from the front. If the threads on the rear portion of the pin are destroyed, you will need to remove the caliper, rotor, park brake, and backing plate and do the same procedure on the front threads of the pin. Put some silver antisieze on the threads when doing this to remove friction and reduce heat. You can also get an air hammer and either buy or make an adapter to ½" drive with a spot to put a wrench on to turn will really help as well.

after u run the motor , for u to check the timming again do u have to tear down the whole front end again to check the timming and adjust the cam timmiing let me know thanks , it s all 928 timming belt the same length for the different motor let meknow thanks
@cjensan11 ай бұрын
To check and adjust timing after, you only need to remove the upper timing belt covers when using the 32Ver tool. All 928s have the same length of timing belt. However, the 78-82 use a square tooth belt. The 1983-95 use a HTD belt.

Can you do a video on how to set "initial" and "top dead center timing?" is factory settings 31 degrees before top dead center at 3,000 rpms? 36 degress at 5,000 rpms BTDC? What is "initial speed" at idle set at 6 degrees? Can you show how to set idle speed?
@cjensan Жыл бұрын
Hello, Every year of 928 has different timing degrees desired. For example, a 1981 US spec 4.5L is 23 degrees BTDC at 3k. All 928s achieve full advance at 3k rpm. A general rule of thumb is to set the advance at 10 BTDC at idle and adjust up and down from there. Idle speed on 78-84 16V engines is 850rpm +/- 50rpm. I can do a video on this in the future as I will be setting up my 78. But it's a ways out. I'm happy to help you set up your car before a video if you send me a message [email protected]

You’re like my new best friend! Lol. I’ve always wondered if 16v heads would fit 5.0 block. Did you use the pistons that came with the 5.0, or did you get new ones to cut in the valve relief? What compression ratio would this conversion have on ‘79 Euro (non - “S”) heads? Could you also stroke the ‘85/‘86 5.0 without sleeves? If so, out to how many liters?
@cjensan3 жыл бұрын
The pistons had valve reliefs cut into the pistons. The result is roughly 11:1 CR. The euro heads may be a little higher CR. You can add a stroker crank and that would take you out to roughly 6L. You will absolutely want to have custom connecting rods made with the factory offsets to the rods made to minimize side loading of the pistons.
