I have question, I thing vinegar is corrosive to aluminum tanks. You may want to check on this. Your tank is made of aluminum. Hope this helps, great job on cleaning your system.
@USS.OverlanderАй бұрын
Reading through the comments on the video I linked (and used for reference, looks like the recommendation is 2 gallons of 30% and fill the rest up with water - good news is that my 4 gallons of 5% didn't exceed that! Good point, filling the tank with 30% overnight may be too corrosive and wouldn't be recommended.

Not really a subject matter expert on this, but for water filtration systems in general, why not just carry a Berkey water filter along. You could fill it up with pond water and drink it - I wouldn't, but you could.
@USS.OverlanderАй бұрын
On board filtration is definitely an option! The trade off is cost, space, weight, and there is still maintenance to do (filter replacements, flushing, etc). I would say that even folks using an on board should still sanitize their tanks annually... but all that matters at the end of the day is that your system is functional and you're drinking safe water!

Great job! But can the trip map be downloaded for offline access with turn-by- turn vocal directions? Can you input GPS coordinates for stops and destinations? Thanks.
@USS.OverlanderАй бұрын
You can export the trip, but the turn-by-turn directions would be under the RV Safe GPS product (which is included in the RV Life Pro membership) - I personally prefer to just insert the next destination to Google maps as we go. You can add a custom destination via address, but Trip Wizard doesn't seem to accept GPS coordinates.

Very informative video, thank you! I've been contemplating buying a membership, but it doesn't offer enough details on their webpage about how to use it, or if it even had what I was looking for. They should offer a free 30 trial, or an option for the free trial with the monthly membership in my opinion. I'm a native Texan, and have been going to the Ren Fest my entire life. Have fun!

We have been car campers for so long it’s second nature for us to fill up the Jerry cans and not think twice about it. But, with proper cleaning and plenty of filtration, I don’t worry too much about using the onboard water for drinking and cooking.
@USS.OverlanderАй бұрын
you should use the bleach method in your Jerry cans too!
@paliertoАй бұрын
@@USS.Overlander if…when we need to clean it, it’s normally a gallon or so and a few drops of bleach and then just shake the devil out of it and then dump it and let it evaporate out. Next I’m looking at either a pre filtration set up or a lifesaver Jerry can ($$$) for a primary source.

Is it normal to turn off refrigerator while traveling?
@USS.Overlander2 ай бұрын
Yes! General advice is that running a fridge when it's not perfectly level can damage the coils/reduce efficiency/eventually burn out the unit faster, and a lot of people also like to turn their propane completely off while driving. Plenty of folks still drive with it on, but it's a measured risk - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpXXeXl6bc5mhqM (much more educated explanation than I can give) for more info!

I’d be careful about coming to the Canadian border region (Glacier National Paek etc) in the “late fall”. From September on temps can fall well into the -15 - -25 degrees Celsius and snow is always a potential in the Rockies from mid September on until mid May. I say this as a Canadian who lives and travels extensively in BC and Alberta and who lived for many years near the Alberta/Montana border. Note; the Cascade Mountain highway between Washington State and Montana often close by mid to late September due to snowfall at higher elevations. Might be a good idea to plan travelling the northern states in late August, early September. Just a thought.
@USS.Overlander3 ай бұрын
Thanks for that advice - I was so surprised by how early campgrounds shut down for the winter that far north, but it makes sense. We can handle subzero temps, but we're not outfitted to drive in serious snowfall... yet 😅
@DaVinci3683 ай бұрын
@@USS.Overlander glad to help.:)) The arrival of severe winter weather is always a little unpredictable but given that an early snowfall or extreme cold snap can instantly turn a holiday into a survival situation, it’s best to plan carefully and to be prepared to retreat or have an alternative safe place to go. In my experience (having driven the Rockies through all seasons for more than 40 years) it’s best to err on the side of caution. Not many Rv’s are insulated well enough to keep pipes from freezing when the temps drop below -20 and blowing snow can turn a bare road into an impassable roadblock in a few short hours. Note; you probably do this already, but if travelling to this latitude in the fall, be sure to pack extreme cold weather clothing. These are critical in the event you have mechanical breakdown and then find yourself caught in some rough weather. So, enough “worry-warting” from me. Travelling the countryside by vehicle is a fantastic experience. Enjoy and have wonderful and safe travels!😁

Honest stories are the best stories. I hate to give credit to the interwebs and reposts but the saying “you can always make more money but never more time…” starts playing a bigger role in your life as it goes on. Less “I wish…” and more “I did…” can right wrongs. Looking forward to all your travels.
