Sound deadening/insulation is a game changer for the dog houses in terms of noise reduction as well as not cooking your calf in the summer.

I think we need to go back in with some heat insulation when we killmat the floor, my ankle has been roasty toasty this trip tbh

Thank you - Great DIY video! - Did you consider sticking your new Kilmat material over (on the inside of the dog house) the existing factory heat/sound shield? I would have not removed the factory piece for fear of fire, not knowing the heat tolerance/ fire rating of the new material you installed (but that's just me - I'm not saying you did it wrong). Also I've owned several vans over the years (Fords, GMC and Dodge) and all of them are pains to remove the dog houses. However, like many things in life, it's gets easier each time you do it. Finally, does it work? Is it more quiet? Is there more or less heat than the original factory heat shield?

We considered it, but the theory we ran with is that the muffling/rattle prevention would be stronger adhered directly to the doghouse (the material is rated to engine heat, no problem there). It's definitely quieter, but not doing much to block heat. I think if we were to do it again, I'd try to find a way to re-apply the factory heat shield once we stuck the killmat on. Adding killmat to the floors/doors is on my to-do list, so I think I'll end up removing the doghouse again and adding more heat blocking material when I've got it torn apart next.
