Dogs and Ass are super valuable one you get them trained as haulers. Once I get that working my settlers don't haul anything. It looks like you can train other animals. Is there any value to training other animals?

My man had an iron shortage and then used his steel on shields... (Shield material has no effect on their defensive capabilities, in fact copper shields are slightly better because of their added weight.) Also makes like 50 iron helms...
@JustDontDie8 күн бұрын
In my defense, it's really silly that shield material doesn't matter when armor material matters so much!

Oh man I'm so glad you're still making these, I was afraid you'd stopped. I also really like how the 'challenge' in this one is more about cleaning up the results of the violence rather than winning the violence itself. Will you update your dwarf fortress playlist so I can listen to them all easier ☺

It can be really hard to tell where something is going wrong sometimes. I remember my first fortress. It was doing well until a sudden depression spike caused a doom spiral, someone killed someone then most everyone died. I couldn't keep up and the miasma actually cleared on its own before things started improving. Then a were-lemur bit a farmer who decided to attack it on her own and that caused an entirely different doom spiral.

19:20 "it cant span multiple levels" yes they can!!! to make a multi-level library (or other zone), you just need to make a second zone then link it to the first, then they will share pretty much everything and scholars will travel between them and store books in both zones. you can also do this with combinations of zones, such as linking a tavern to your library, then your scholars will be given drinks by the tavernkeeper.

protip for mass graves: you can channel out 2 tiles, clear the ramp on one to place a coffin, and flag the whole enclosed 2x1 space as a tomb without building doors. i like to regular mine out a 64x64 area, flag rows of two as channels, then erase parts of the columns in a pattern that makes for a grid of 2x1 channels. instead of manually making each 2x1 channel

Re: Preassure plates and ant men -- some ant men are Drones which have the "flying" tag which might be why they dont trigger your pressure plates. Additionally, its my understanding that making fortification walls 2 tiles wide prevents anything from accidently pathing through them when they attempt to dodge attacks / projectiles. Congrats on the PHD defense!
