Zappa saying having a woman in the group is impractical is just ignorant. Ruth Underwood contributed so much to the Mothers!

I can relate to a lot of what Getz is saying. I’ve struggled with addiction for 11 years, and I am now on this long journey of being a recovered addict. Addiction is a disease, and it has certainly changed me as a person because I grew up in a broken home, and that vice offered me an escape from all the traumatic shit that my emotionally unstable parents put me through. Those were dark days. I finally realized that it was messing me up, and it was something that I had to overcome. A lot of jazz musicians from Getz’s generation weren’t willing to admit to being addicts, and I think it’s inspiring to hear one of my heroes own up to his mistakes. RIP Stan Getz 🙏🏾🎷

if you're saying to yourself, "well, at least he got to..." or "still, his sadness made his characters so much more..." you are doing him and everyone else who has ever felt deep unhappiness a disservice. there's no consolation in misery. there's brief distraction from it, and then return to the mire. that's it. no one who is sat squarely in the middle of profound unhappiness ever says to themselves, "well, at least i was happy, once..." anyone who thinks they do does not know what depression is.

Cousteau is a legend!!!!!!! But... "Atlantis nesos", as Plato reported. The "Island of Atlantis"... it never was a contintent, despite modern people's misconceptions. Plato was rather clear on Atlantis' location (the Azores being the mountain tops of the sunken island in the extremely volatile Mid-Atlantic-Rim (MAR) region where 3 continental plates meet, of which we've explored 2% by 2010). And just like with the British Empire, you have a main island....and yet lots of colonies all around the world... something to consider. It was only after the pseudo-scientific "Atlantis: Fact or Fiction" book from 1978 representing mainstream science who "debunked" the Atlantis myth and made a definitive statement that no "continent" could've existed in the MAR region.... they said this in 1978...and again, by 2010 we've explored 2% of the MAR....and 5% of the world's oceans... and supposed "scientists" were making definitive statements about the MAR in 1978... "ending the debate once and for all" ...with pseudo-science, straw man and stick man arguments.

Hmmm…They got fired and got on the bus…Sounds like a fair trade to o me. Got high…things happened…Makes sense when you look at the other side of it…Sober so that nothing happens or at least nothing unexpected or unplanned. Hmmm…So much in everyday life does assign the status of audience member.🐇

“I’m a professional coward” In The Gonzo documentary they say he was constantly in trouble with the law. His bad behaviour never really stopped, you have to think what he symbolically means by “throwing bottles at bar mirrors”. His bad behaviour calmed down, you just have to think what it was like before.

Wasn't he a professor at Berkley? Maybe after he got clean. Regardless, if i ever get back to playing, he would be my inspiration and target. His sound was always the kind of sound I looked for in an Alto sax as its such a difficult instrument to get right. Never knew he was also a strong drug user, he always came across as the straight guy. Was unaware there was that dark of a side to him. Might make his albums sound different to me now but I'll come to terms with it.
