Marvel continuing to raise their prices is a huge problem for me. There’s no reason a standard TPB should be $25. If this is going to be the norm for them I’m going to cut Marvel all together. I’ve already cut back on them a lot with this being one of the bigger factors (among a few others) for me. I appreciate these videos Dom. Keep up the great work!

I’m looking into getting this to sort of collect those stories because of their historical significance. Not exactly to read all the way through to get a sense for the character, but I definitely plan on reading everything for the Batman and Wonder Woman DC’s finest stories that I hope to get soon!

I respect every other preferences, but of that list i’m just planning to buy Supergirl and Green lantern 😅 the other list of characters looks boring to me, but as i said, i respect if others shows interest in those characters

My advice for people reading Golden Age, or most Silver Age comics for the first time, is don't treat it like a graphic novel that you have to read all the way through. It was never meant to be read like that. Read a story or two, toss a bookmark in it, and read something else for a while. Then come back to it with fresh eyes. Rinse and repeat.

How big (tall) are these compared with Omnis and other formats.

Great review on the DC Finest stuff, but I gotta say that your editing skills are amazing. I do not know all of the technical jargon, but your into, cut scenes, graphics, transitions. All of it is just amazing and a visual treat. It really makes your channel stand out compared to other comic reviewers (not trying to put any other creators down)...just saying it is noticed.

Thanks, Dom, for all you are doing to support these books! For those who are thinking of trying this or other volumes from long ago, but have little or no experience with Golden Age comics, listen to what Dom said about newspaper strips and read the stories in that manner. Anytime a scene shifts or there’s even a hint of “what’s going to happen next?”, let your brain relax, maybe even look away or take a drink of water and treat it as daily or weekly newspaper strip - that part is over - then engage with the next part. I’ve read comics for over 55+ years and it’s the only way I can really do it. Most of all, remember these were intended for children 85+ years ago. They’re not going to “hold up”, if read through the lens of modern stories, but they are incredibly important to the genre we all know and love.

The order of the stories is: Year One (Batman 404-407), Year Two (Detective 575-578), new origin of Jason Todd (Batman 408-411), Legends Crossovers (Batman 401, Detective 568) and from here Batman 402-403, 412 and Detective 569-574, 579 interspersing them as you wish. It would have been better to present the stories in the correct chronological order and not following the publication order.

Great overview, Dom! I read the first issue of Action Comics and loved it; I really love this particular Superman and how much more brash and sarcastic he is. I'm still working out my DC Finest collecting strategy, but I'm thinking this may be the only Golden Age Superman volume I'll end up getting, along with maybe 1 silver age, with my main focus being on Bronze Age and eventually the Triangle Era.

My shipment of the first two DC Finest books got delayed, so I'm living vicariously through these overviews

Mike Barr is an underrated Batman writer - he wrote a lot of classics from this era: Son of the Demon, the Outsiders, etc.

Love the format and size of these editions. I just felt the reproduction/color seemed a little off to me (just bought the Batman edition so far).

Hey Dom, I got my DC Finest Batman Year One & Two, I'm working through it...but not finished yet so I had to fast forward through the last few minutes for no spoilers😂, but I am loving this new DC format. I'm gonna try to get all Batman, Green Arrow, and Flash and then select Vol. 1's (Superman,etc.) and stories I want to read most (Teen Titans Judas Contract,etc).
