I noticed as a teacher allowing them to hold the same objects keeps them in their own world and harder for them to adapt to their surroundings. I like to use that object as a reward instead. I’m all about their learning experience more than anything.

"Thank you for sharing your perspective! Transitional objects do provide comfort for many kids with autism, especially in stressful situations. Using them as rewards can work if done gradually and sensitively. Behavior therapists can help create strategies that balance their need for security with learning adaptability. Appreciate your dedication to their growth!"

"Hello! Ji haan, occupational therapy Cerebral Palsy (C.P.) patients ke liye bhi bahut helpful hoti hai. Ye therapy unhe apne daily routine tasks jaise feeding, dressing, aur grooming mein independent banane mein madad karti hai. Ek qualified occupational therapist aapke bache ki specific needs ke hisaab se exercises aur activities plan karega. Agar aapko aur details chahiye, zarur batayein!"

"Hello! Ghar par therapy karna bhi effective ho sakta hai, lekin ye depend karta hai ki exercises aur activities sahi tarike se ki ja rahi hain ya nahi. Ek trained occupational therapist ki guidance zaroori hoti hai, jo aapko exercises samjha sake aur progress monitor kare. Agar aap budget ko lekar concerned hain, to aap therapist se customized home-based plans ke baare mein discuss kar sakte hain. For more guidance, feel free to contact us!"

My son 3 and half years old, he has tongue sensory issues he won't allow to touch tongue & we can't brush/ clean his tongue.. These days spitting all syrups too
@priyankas-occupational_therapy
@priyankas-occupational_therapy 12 күн бұрын
"Thank you for sharing about your son. Tongue sensory issues can be challenging, but with consistent efforts, improvements are possible. You can try using activities like blowing bubbles, chewable sensory toys, or introducing textured foods to gradually desensitize his oral sensory system. Start with a soft silicone finger brush or let him play with it first to get comfortable. Consulting an occupational therapist can help create a tailored plan to address these issues effectively. Feel free to reach out for more guidance!"

"Thank you for sharing about your son. It's great that you're following the GFCF diet! For his continuous eating, try introducing structured meal and snack times to regulate his eating habits. Offer sensory-based activities or chewy snacks that keep him engaged and provide oral stimulation. For his obsession with letters, you can use his interest to introduce other activities, like matching letters with objects or storytelling, to broaden his focus gradually. Consulting a behavioral therapist can also help create tailored strategies for his needs. For personalized guidance, feel free to book a consultation at +91 6309275708!"

Please explain the sugar replacement aspect in English thanks
@priyankas-occupational_therapy
@priyankas-occupational_therapy 12 күн бұрын
"Certainly! When it comes to replacing sugar in the diet of children with autism, it's important to focus on healthier alternatives that don’t cause spikes in blood sugar or contribute to hyperactivity. Natural sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol can be good options. They are low in calories and don't have the same negative effects as refined sugars. Additionally, using whole fruits for sweetness can provide more nutrients, like fiber and vitamins, while reducing the need for added sugars. It’s always recommended to consult a nutritionist or healthcare professional before making significant changes to your child’s diet."

I’ve gone across videos that say soy is bad for the gut
@priyankas-occupational_therapy
@priyankas-occupational_therapy 12 күн бұрын
"Thank you for your comment! While some studies suggest that soy can affect gut health for certain individuals, it’s important to consider each person's unique needs. For some children with autism, soy can be a good alternative source of protein. However, if there are concerns about gut health or digestion, it’s always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or nutritionist to determine what works best for your child’s specific needs."

"Thank you for reaching out! It’s common for children with autism to engage in mouthing behaviors as a way to explore their environment. To help reduce this, you can offer safer alternatives like chewable toys or textured objects that provide sensory input. Gradually redirecting the behavior and using positive reinforcement when she uses appropriate objects can also help. It’s important to be patient and consistent. "Thank you for your comment! It’s common for children with sensory issues to engage in behaviors like licking or mouthing non-food items. To address this, you can offer safer alternatives like chewable toys, textured fabrics, or oral sensory toys. Regularly redirecting the behavior and reinforcing positive habits can help. If the behavior persists, it might be helpful to consult with an occupational therapist who can create a personalized approach to manage these sensory-seeking behaviors."

Thank you for your comment! If your child is showing signs of chewing or biting non-food items, it may be a sensory-seeking behavior. To help manage this, you can try providing appropriate chewy items like chew toys or textured rubber items to satisfy the need for oral stimulation. Consistently redirecting their attention to these alternatives and reinforcing positive behaviors can help. If the chewing behavior is persistent, it’s best to consult with an occupational therapist who can guide you with specific strategies to address these sensory issues in a positive and structured way.

@priyankas-occupational_therapy
@priyankas-occupational_therapy 12 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing, and I understand how challenging this can be. Spitting can be a sensory-seeking behavior or a way to communicate discomfort or frustration, which is quite common in children with autism. Here are a few suggestions that may help: Introduce a Sensory Substitute: Offer your child something they can chew or suck on, like a chewable toy or straw. This can help redirect the oral activity. Establish Consistent Responses: Gently and consistently redirect when your child spits. You can say something like, "Spitting is not okay, but we can use this [chewy toy] to help." Reinforce when they use the appropriate substitute. Use Positive Reinforcement: Praise your child when they are able to avoid spitting or use a replacement behavior. Create a Visual Schedule: Sometimes spitting occurs out of frustration or overstimulation. A visual schedule can help manage expectations and reduce anxiety. Since you're on a waiting list for therapy clinics, you may also want to consider online occupational therapy sessions or behavioral therapy, which are available in many areas, and they might offer guidance on how to address this behavior while you wait. It’s important to be patient and consistent with the strategies, and I’m sure you’ll start seeing progress.

Dear Dr. May I ask whether tantrum happens over the time from one thing to the other?
@priyankas-occupational_therapy
@priyankas-occupational_therapy 12 күн бұрын
Yes, tantrums can transition from one thing to another if the child is frustrated or overwhelmed. The key difference is that tantrums are often intentional (seeking control), while meltdowns are involuntary and happen when a child is overwhelmed or unable to cope. Both behaviors require patience and strategies to help the child self-regulate. For personalized guidance, feel free to book a consultation with me at +91 6309275708.

If you're looking for alternatives to wheat chapati, here are some great options: Rice Flour Chapati: A gluten-free alternative, easy to make, and soft. Almond Flour Chapati: Rich in protein and low in carbs, this is a healthy option. Millet Chapati (Bajra or Ragi): High in fiber and nutritious, these flours can be used to make soft, gluten-free chapatis. Oats Chapati: Made with ground oats, offering a fiber-rich, gluten-free alternative. Coconut Flour Chapati: Low-carb and rich in fiber, it's a good gluten-free option.
