LETS TALK ABOUT OBJECT HOLDING IN AUTISM

Object holding by kids with Autism is one of the common concern faced by many parents.The child feels calm and secure by holding the object which is famiiar or which is liked by him .I would advice not to snatch these transitional objects such as toys,blankets,stationary,letters ,alphabets etc .Your child feels the sense of security in carrying these objects with them whenever he /she is in new environment or whenever your child is in stressful situation.These objects help your child to cope from developing into meltdowns otherwise.Never snatch the object or punish your child.Give your child the time to prepare before taking the object out of his reach.Take the help from behavior therapist how to remove this behavior in a positive and constructive way.
