Great interview, but him calling the Abolitionists' ties with the prohibition movement a "glitch" is quite wrong-headed. It wasn't a glitch, it was fundamental to their movement. They were theocrats through and through, and not the least bit libertarian. The whole progressive state and its evil empire is an outgrowth of their mad religion.

1:27:41 good question but Murray didn't follow through on his analysis (maybe he never thought much of it). He states they just want to inflate together but inflation generally centralizes power. When power is centralized among a few entities, these entities then either battle each other or cooperate....if they cooperate then they create agreements, etc. essentially creating a gov of their own....a gov of the world. Is this good or bad? Who knows

The deep state doesn't want to be exposed of their pride, greed, and injustice.
I have a question here. As Rene Girard has pointed out, most desires are not innate but given from outside. A person sees someone eating an ice cream cone and now desires an ice cream cone. But at a larger level through advertising and coercion, peoples desires are controlled. So it becomes predictable. I would say that a controlled economy is the control of human desire. This is what makes for the opposite of a true free economy and it appears that the latter is not a reality. Is there a way of it?

It’s funny how so many conservatives revere Milton Friedman as if he were a god, but his economics were certainly not conservative. Libertarian economics is essentially globalism, open borders/mass immigration and free trade. All of these things militate against the conservative idea of a sovereign nation state that determines its own laws and economic values.

Ehh, actually it's possible to know it statistically. Not a direct knowledge, but when we deal with millions of people, patterns of consumption often emerge. For example, I know that the number of people wanting to consume ice cream will rise with the variation of temperature of the air. Human behavior is predictable, especially when we are dealing with large groups.

The knowledge problem can technically be done with enough computing power and information, but when simulating a whole economy, It becomes practically impossible with even the best computers that exist IIRC. The power is that the market does it automatically using dispersed information. The example Hayek gives is that if the price of tin goes up for a million potential reasons, all the information is is conveyed in just one number, the price.

7:11 this is a common problem among humans. Most think they are better than the next. On the surface it seems true to many. But this may be because we don't experience what others have experienced. When one has been living with much free time to learn and explore, and has been taught good habits by another....then after 20 years they look at the world around them and say to themselves "how can those people be so foolish?" They often don't realize all the factors that got them to where they are, and the factors that shaped other people. Freedom and protection of life liberty and property are possibly the most important factors. So when "the elite" think they need to control the world, maybe they should consider the world will take care of itself if we all agree to only protect the individual rights of Life Liberty and Property. This will then allow creativity and talents to rise above, paving the way to a better world for all. Without tyranny and wasteful theft, and requiring people to be responsible for themselves, the incentives align that encourage but not force people to cooperate with each other. People will have the time to create. Naturally some will appear to squander their time but this is for them to decide, and they will have to face the outcome which may or may not be bad. Those that make terrible choices will mostly fade away, and the wise will continue on....leading to a stronger more adaptive society. The stronger the society, the more people can and will help those in need.

What we need is a road OUT OF serfdom. Every democracy consists of lords and serfs, of rulers and ruled. Mercantilist democracies are as oppressive as the political democracies. If you have a boss, you are NOT free; therefore the “liberty” of the “libertarians” is a FRAUD!

you left out Global Oligarchs controllinf the world. Corporate greed the culprit that's enriching the rich and taking from middle class and poor everyday and getting worse each day. Meanwhile the world's billionaires are shifting their wealth by the trillions to offshore accounts to avoid taxation. The reality of a mostly planned EU economy is coming to a head. Massive spending cuts in Germany . France and Italy are contracting and the taxes and fees have already been maxed out. Where will the European governments get their money Now from? Stelantis has had a 40% reduction of orders. We are entering fascinating, polarising times. The authoritarian left is strong in Europe.
