Hello, the formal for you= 'lei'. is it: always capitalized, is compared to using lui is one simi-formal and one formal or is the use of the 'formal you'. I reckon if I send an international scholarship rrequest to Italy and I should consider such or if it is outdated. * I keep mistaking it for the pronoun for she.

I'm afraid there doesn't appear to be any specific explanation why some letters are omitted and others added when combining the article and preposition. Are there any'specific' rules regarding this, or is it just a case of memorizing the ones 'agreed' upon? So confusing. Just subscribed.

You forgot to say & write some rules: 1) Any Italian words ending in a consonant remain the same for singular and plural 2) The exceptions are due to their expected grammatical/human genders
