I've used this clock and found its motion sensor makes me feel sick after only 15 minute exposure, e.g. having a sore throat. It uses a 24 GHz millimeter-wave sensor. This frequency range is also used in 5G networks. Which some people also find make them feel sick. Assuming new technologies have no detrimental health effects is very naive, especially in regards to frequencies, because everything is made of frequencies.

@NintendoUpDotCom Probably not but who knows, it's new tech and very few studies investigate long term effects. It does blast you with radio radiation all night, which is of low power, but such things accumulate in life. Phone, WiFi, GSM signal, radio, electromagnetic radiation etc. If my body says not good then I listen, you might feel fine though.

yeah I'd keep expectations very much in check in regards to raytracing. Just because something is "capable" of something, doesn't mean it's a good idea. It's like 8k on PS5. Sure, it COULD do it, but it'd be a terrible idea. Great video, btw. Every point you made was spot on. Especially with interpreting and understanding why Switch 2 has advantages that PS4Pro didn't have, even if it's technically less powerful.

I just feel Astro Bot movement is disappointing. Wayyyyy back in Super Mario 64, Mario had really deep movement at all times-jump, triple jump, side flip, ground pound, backflip, slide, etc. In Astro Bot, you get a jump and a hover. "But Astro Bot constantly introduces new gimmicks and mechanics so the basic movement isn't as important!" Super Mario Odyssey has nonstop gimmicks and new mechanics on top of one of the best default platforming movesets of all time (hat jump, air dive, rolling, etc. + standard 3D Mario moveset). I don't even particularly love Super Mario Odyssey (Galaxy 4 lyfe) but the schmovement is undeniable. "But Astro Bot's limited moveset makes it accessible!" I played Super Mario Galaxy as an 8 year old and Super Mario 64 as a 10 year old and had an absolute blast despite not fully understanding every control. Depth and accessibility aren't mutually exclusive. "But Astro Bot has an inherent charm and sense of fun that puts it ahead of every other game this year!" Feels like everyone got tricked by hundreds of physics objects and haptics into thinking a bog standard 3D platformer with PS5 graphics is GOTY. "But what else should have won Game of the Year if not for Astro Bot?" Animal Well. Maybe Balatro. "But why?" Because they are innovative in more ways than just aesthetics. Because they respect player agency and choice. Because they are realizations of the solo-developer dream. Because Animal Well's world was so cryptic that it inspired gamers to collaborate. Because Balatro's mechanics were so captivating that they kicked off a deluge of copycats. "But didn't you create a strawman to argue against and therefore win the argument by default?" Yes.

Even if I don't agree with 100% of the stuff you said. I personally think astro bot doesn't feel like AI for instance. I still gotta admire how persistent you are on your opinion. I've scrolled down to see a bunch of people saying stuff along the lines of "Astro Bot isn't a copy it's just inspired". And you are explaining your reasoning pretty well in the replies. Not a lot of people put up with things like that.

i love my switch, its a great system but i prefer my ps5 since the switch's hardware feels too dated for it to be a viable option for online games. i love both switch and ps5 but i love my ps5 more rn

I just got mario and luigi brothership for christmas, i'm around 12-14 hours in near the end of the second sea, this game to me is a 9.5/10, it reminds me of the mario and lugi games that were originally made by Alphadreams. It keeps everything amazing about them and expands upon it. this game is so good, I hate the mega snaptor fight though.

Look, as someone who got this for free (aka as a Christmas present), this ain’t half bad. I just wouldn’t pay $90 for it, yknow? Least till it has a couple more song options. Also, I’m surprised they didn’t have the tick tock clock song- that literally takes place in an alarm clock, and it’s not half bad either as an alarm itself

You notice similarities and inapirations. Awesome! The next step is asking yourself what unique things Astro Bot brought to the genre. Super satisfying haptics, focused level design, bespoke levels catered specifically to unique powerups, the collectibles being a celebration of Sony characters, the music, the visuals, and the fact that all of this works together. Also, maybe you get negative comments because you're super negative? Also, "If you hate AI you have to hate Astro Bot?" You really don't get why people hate AI man. I mean for one thing your AI picture of "neckbeard" have 6 fingers on each hand lol

Nothing about that is unique. As for haptics, Nintendo introduced rumble with the N64 and the Joy-Cons have a pretty compelling new form of that.... I will admit one thing: this video is negative because prior to making it (and after) I had some Sony fanboys harassing me. I was tired of it. But it felt good to vent and apparently won me some new fans. You won't be around after this video, but these new fans might be. So... And I have heard many different complaints about AI. Some people hate it on a general level no matter what, even if it is just to help with coming up with an idea. Those same people love Astro Bot which just makes me laugh. That's all.

@NintendoUpDotCom Astro Bot has a synergy to all these elements that some of those other games lack. I love Kirby and the Forgotten Land, for example, and Astro Bot borrows a lot of its structure, but taking that structure and having levels more like Mario Galaxy, and ensuring that there is a ton of polish on top of it all works together to make the game something special. There are so many one off animations and flourishes that elevate the experience. A lot of one-time powerups. The devs even made sure to have initially invisible coins appear in hard to reach places to reward players when they explore that boundaries of the levels. It's all super synergous and makes for a very satisfying, gleeful experience. You may find the iteration on past games too distracting, and I'm sure others do too, but there are tons of people out there who were surprised and delighted by this game and think it deserves goty for finding the best the genre has to offer and putting it all together.

Im right now at the "Lost Galaxy" level.. I do admit that it's just (occationally) a big Nintendo ripoff and it feels outdated. TBH Astro Bot no more than a 7 out of 10 game on my list.. Not even top 20 this year. Game Awards is clearly corrupt.

I don't know man, I'm having plenty of fun with my PS5. While I was always more of a "Sony guy" and PlayStation fan, the PS4 was the first PlayStation system I didn't own, so I skiped out that generation's game library entirely! So the PS5 is great for me because while it has few exclusive games, it can run PS4 games as well. I also own a Switch and for me it's the perfect combo with Nintendo games. I don't see a point in owning Xbox because I use Gamepass on PC.
