Remember to clean ALL contacts that you can with Isopropyl alcohol and a Q tip/ Cotton ball as well as brush for any thick corrosion. Especially with low voltage any corrosion/ oxides can severely mess with voltage and resistance. I just cleaned out my old LED flashlight and it’s 3x as bright. At least get the bulb contacts and any exposed connectors . My bike dynamo had the same problem of flickering and dimming, but after cleaning just the bulb it’s way better.

Make sure you’re getting 12volts at the voltage regulator on the red wire ! If not that then remove wire from circuit at cdi that grounds out ignition. This will bypass all kill switches that shut down the ignition circuit

I have 2 classics paid $100 each. First is a 1974 CT90. Got it running, bought a carb, chain, F&R tires and tubes. Got about $325 in it now. Second is my 1978 Yamaha XT500. It sat in the open west Texas desert for 12+ years. Got it fired up. Bought a carb, F&R tires and tubes and just replaced the clutch cable. Got about $450 in it now. Both run well and are fun.

I've had three Suzy TS trailbikes (amongst a number of other bikes) in my 60+ years and if you get a good one they are unkillable. And if it's already been killed, it's usually down to previous owners'' neglect or mechanical incompetence. And while they're not rocket ships they're still a (2-stroke) blast to ride.
@misplacedgarage9 күн бұрын
Awesome! This one seems to be quite the tank on the trails! Thanks for watching!
@jimmarshall8077 күн бұрын
@@misplacedgarage the 185's generally considered the best for trail riding. It's much smaller and lighter than the 250 and (for a small 2-stroke) has a reasonable midrange. The 125 is pretty much the same size as the 185 but needs to be revved more, plus the 185 has maintenance-free electronic ignition while the 125 has points.

I am glad it worked in the end. I could totally be wrong but my theory as to why your light tester didn’t work is that the capacitor needs to be “charged” first before any voltage will go to the light. The capacitor is probably used as some type of buffer that smooths out the varying power coming from the engine at different rpms. Either way, glad you got it going and street legal. I remember getting a 76 cb360 back on the road and getting pulled over because of no headlight. Enjoying the vids on this one and the little Honda!
@misplacedgarage10 күн бұрын
In the beginning I didn’t get any voltage from the lighting coil side. But I did get a little voltage after I replaced it. I believe the capacitor is only on the ignition side but I may be wrong. That’s exactly what I don’t want to happen haha. Thank you for watching! I really appreciate it!
