People think I'm crazy for buying 15 vintage motorcycles but once I retire, I'll have something I love to do as opposed to watching TV or yelling at kids to get off my lawn 😅😅

it's nice having a classic motorcycle that you CAN ride everywhere. I got a 1976 honda goldwing gl1000, It's been across the state of michigan several times, I take it to work as much as I possibly can during the summer time, it's an absolute joy to cruise, and after a bit of elbow grease, regular maintenance, and work on the electricals and ignition, and timing belt replacement of course, It has been very reliable and has never left me stranded.
@misplacedgarage25 күн бұрын
I couldn’t agree more! Something than can be ridden reliably is monumental in the vintage world! Glad you’re keeping an old bike going. Thank you for watching!

One of the 2 old Hondas you can get parts for. Not all of them but some.
@stevemiller535022 күн бұрын
Parts are available only for a few Japanese motorcycles. If you want a classic bike look elsewhere. Germany. Great Britain. USA.
@blakewixom289322 күн бұрын
@@stevemiller5350 I can get parts for any goldwing, any of the common cb bikes, and trail bike models in the US, parts are plentiful and haven't had any issue getting parts, the only thing I've had a hard time with is getting original exhaust setup that's usable for my bike

Old bikes are fun, I have a 1970 XS650 chopper conversion, 1970 Trail 90, 1978 ATC90 and a 1985 Honda XR350R. They keep you humble, learning things that are long forgotten like points, carburetors, compression release.

I have 2 classics paid $100 each. First is a 1974 CT90. Got it running, bought a carb, chain, F&R tires and tubes. Got about $325 in it now. Second is my 1978 Yamaha XT500. It sat in the open west Texas desert for 12+ years. Got it fired up. Bought a carb, F&R tires and tubes and just replaced the clutch cable. Got about $450 in it now. Both run well and are fun.

I've had three Suzy TS trailbikes (amongst a number of other bikes) in my 60+ years and if you get a good one they are unkillable. And if it's already been killed, it's usually down to previous owners'' neglect or mechanical incompetence. And while they're not rocket ships they're still a (2-stroke) blast to ride.
@misplacedgarage21 күн бұрын
Awesome! This one seems to be quite the tank on the trails! Thanks for watching!
@jimmarshall80720 күн бұрын
@@misplacedgarage the 185's generally considered the best for trail riding. It's much smaller and lighter than the 250 and (for a small 2-stroke) has a reasonable midrange. The 125 is pretty much the same size as the 185 but needs to be revved more, plus the 185 has maintenance-free electronic ignition while the 125 has points.

Older is better- to a point. I like to have suspension and brakes that work if Im going to ride. The oldest thing I have is an '82 IT490 wearing the thinner YZ bodywork. The one that gets the most seat time is my '96 CR500 & '97 KX500. Currently restoring my '88 CR500.
