Bit by bit it is getting there. Custom exhausts are tricky and time consuming to fabricate.

You’re doing a great job! Just heard that the inner wheel well has a tight fit. Does that interfere with your exhaust pipe? Just checking.
@misplacedgarage9 ай бұрын
I haven’t checked that yet but I’m sure a cut off wheel will fix any clearance issues if so!

fair play taking on the project cannot help wondering why the little miata engine it is so much work doing a motor trans swap were you not interested in a bigger (v8) motor ?
@misplacedgarage8 ай бұрын
It’s all about power to weight ratio. A v8 would make the car extremely nose heavy. The Miata motor weighs about the same as the original motor but makes double the power of the original motor. I don’t intend on this car being a racecar just a peppy cruiser that’s reliable.

@@misplacedgarage And.. a V8 swap is a huge pain. The exhaust setup is very difficult.. AND.. If you are lucky enough to find and be able to afford a Buick or rover aluminum block (light) V8 you have about the same HP (too much for the diff) as the Miata until you spend even more on upgrading it.

You Smart.. you got it wrote down what it needs.. if it’s fast like the mustang? Motor Mounts Need to be Tight.😄

It has a similar power to weight ratio to the mustangs!

good call on adding a cat. I have a 74 too without a cat and you can smell the exhaust sitting in traffic. maybe ill add one...
@misplacedgarage9 ай бұрын
If it’s the original engine I’d make sure it’s a pretty high flowing cat like a 100 cell count as it could throw off your carb tuning. It’s not going to completely get rid of all smell but it certainly will help!
@chaseincats9 ай бұрын
@@misplacedgarage didn’t know that, I’ll definitely keep that in mind

Smelling exhaust is a good thing! I would never go to the time or cost to install a cat if I did not have to.
@misplacedgarage8 ай бұрын
@@mikecunningham7621 There will still be exhaust smell even with a high flow cat. I want this to be a casual cruiser car that doesn't leave me incredibly smelly, I've got other cars for that haha. And with a lot of research I was able to find a good quality cat that was under $100!

Hi, i was just wondering if you had seen the youtube video showing a low pass by a Spitfire that the car was named after, it only lasts 1:20 seconds & is called ( The original Spitfire surprise low pass ) & is good fun.
