Ive struggled with gaps in the trails, is there a way to fix this? Thanks
@forestchaput4 сағат бұрын
There are programs that can try and fix it (like StarStax), but I find most of them pretty lacking in how well they do. Minimizing the time between exposures is always the best bet.

Subscriber earned. Very thorough, thank you very much! Can you map the NAS to finder so when the Mac reboots, it automatically connects? I have this done with my Synology. Cheers

You you can! Here's a tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqTHnZl3q7poY68

Hi, this video was really helpful but now I have a question. If raid 5 only allows 1 disk failure. How many disk failure can you afford with raid 10? My understanding is raid 10 mirrors the other drive but as well partially copy the drives on the other hard drives install in the unit, is that right? It looks like raid 10 is what is going to the best option for me going forward for future storage.
@forestchaputКүн бұрын
Unfortunately, RAID 10 can only safely handle one disk failure as well.

Thank you for making this video. I am just now learning about NAS. I do have 1 question for you. I just bought a M4 Mac mini pro with base storage. My plan was to buy a OWC external enclosure with WB NVMe 8TB drive and use it as the main storage but now that I'm learning about this, can I use the Ugreen 4800plus with four 24TB drives to load the main home folder of my M4 Mac mini and use it as my main storage? I want to get away from paying for 8TB of apple iCloud storage.
@PHOENIXOVERLAND3 күн бұрын
I plan to edit and make small KZbin videos as well as edit photos from the NAS. Or do you think my original plan is better?
@forestchaputКүн бұрын
You could use it for storage, but you wouldn't be able to store your home folder on it. It would be treated just like an external hard drive to the computer. I use mine for all of my KZbin video storage so I think you would like that plan!
@PHOENIXOVERLANDКүн бұрын
@ Ok so if I am using it as my main storage do you think it would be necessary to load my home folder onto an external SSD to keep as much off the M4 Mac mini to help with performance? I appreciate your reply and help so far
@georgequittner45704 күн бұрын
great video. thanks. does anyone make these with ssd components?
@forestchaput4 күн бұрын
You could totally use SSDs. The only thing to be aware of is that I don't think you would gain any additional transfer speed as the speed seems to be limited by the USB connection, not the drives themselves.

thank you. i noticed seagate has a wide range od drives. i am a nature photographer and with the newer cameras take way too many images. is one type of seagate drive better than the other?
@garyaugustin69935 күн бұрын
Which NAS Hard Drive is better suited for this NAS, the WD Red Plus or the WD Red Pro?
@forestchaput5 күн бұрын
I'd go with the Red Pro or the Seagate Iron Wolf or Seagate Exos.

Same here, last ones I bought were Hero 3 and 3+. Totally blown away now - my Hero 13 Black Creator Edition came yesterday. Still waiting for an SD-Card and a Macro-Lens. ( I like to film Flowers, Insects, Butterflies ). Thinking about to reactivate my since 12 years sleeping YT-Channel. But in about Modular-Synthesizer + soldering this time, where I can use the Macro Lens too.

To get 10GB Speeds all i need to do is buy a 10GB router and plug it into the 10GB ports on my PC and UGREEN? I'm only paying for 1GB internet service? Or am i missing the point here?
@forestchaput7 күн бұрын
That is correct! That will give you 10Gb connectivity between the NAS and PC.

New to NASync. Just got the DXP6800 and wondering if the only way to upload media into, Sharepoint, dropbox, wetransfer etc... is by downloading the media?
@forestchaput7 күн бұрын
I think that's currently the only way on the UGreenOS. You could install a 3rd party OS like TrueNAS which would give you that ability natively though.

I bought one and it worked perfectly for about 2 mmoths, then all of a sudden got a File Manager failed to load and won't open. I now can only access through the phone app. Dealing with UGreen online is interesting in that they're not fluent with english and their website is in Kanji form. So to say that this is a good experience for me is a bit of a stretch.

Hey there, awesome video! I'm currently in china and about to buy this NAS and take it back to Australia. Would it be OK to set it up here in China first, transfer files onto it, then take it to Australia, where it will live permanently? Do you foresee any issues with this as long as i write down and remember all the info you told us to in your vid? Or will i likely lose the files somehow when i get back to Australia by having to start over or something
