Always gotta remember to enjoy the chase, enjoy the journey, and sometimes when a dream is reached, it creates space for yet a new dream so the chase can continue. Gotta love the ol’ cliché “it’s about the journey… not the destination”. Also…. You need more wood slats 😂

This is so cool. Also, just turned 30 and can relate. I just discovered your channel and was admiring your filming style but also really love this honest life talk with a bit of inspo at the end. Cheers to life and all the ups and downs of each chapter. I want to believe that things have a way of working themselves out. We just have to keep showing up.

We don’t make films because we want to. We need to. We have to. It’s a curse. It’s not about the result- it’s about the journey. When I make shows for NatGeo, I don’t even watch the show, but I look back on the memories of being out on the field-that collaboration of others who also have that curse to take care of that creative itch temporarily. Here for the retro vibes.

I'm a distant friend of Jay and Chris and I've been keeping up with your content and I've enjoyed all of what you've been doing. It's okay to take breaks and clear your mind. This stuff can be consuming but remember that this doesnt defy you at the end of the day. You amount to more than a camera. You just happen to be good at what you do and it has taken you many places. Jay shared a video recently stating that true fulfillment, peace, joy and contentment can only be found in Christ and I challenge you to seek God if you haven't already. You want to know what true love is? Seek God. The gospel message is that Jesus Christ suffered and died for you and I so that we may have another opportunity to be in relationship with the creator of this universe and live in eternity with him after this life. Because this life is only a vapor as the Bible states. We live in a physical world full of distractions and it's easy to forget that it's a spiritual side as well and a spiritual God who wants to save you from all the evils and spiritual warfare going on. But it requires faith in Him. Not doing good things but faith in God. The natural man can't comprehend these things and this path is extremely narrow and lonely; only few will find it. Matthew 7:13 . God bless

Man your video's always hit. I've been through a huge change this year and it's been scary. I feel like I don't get anything done but I have been dreaming of this life. I always wanted to make video's for a living and when I think about it, it's amazing. I feel like I get nothing done because it doesn't feel like work. I even picked up KZbin again. You're an amazing inspiration. Too bad I didn't get to meet you in Norway. Funny we were there at the same time!

Sam, seems serendipitous you posting this video this morning as I'm deeply contemplative. 35+ years into my career as a documentary & street photographer and moving more and more into creating video content, at age 62 you begin to strip away the stuff that you thought mattered when younger. There is an awareness that you don't have too many more years in this life. The things you thought you would have accomplished and didn't gnaws at you like an itch you can't seem to scratch. The compromises you make in your life for what is truly important (family, relationships, etc) become the anchor by which you derive true meaning and satisfaction. I have things I regret not accomplishing, at the same time I wouldn't give up what I now have as a result of giving up on those things I thought mattered. I could have given up everything to achieve my so called dreams - but I would also have been alone and lonely and as a creature who needs connection I made modifications to those dreams/goals that allowed me to find a win/win solution. As a father of two grown children who are in their early 40's, my advice to others is try to find a balance for your career and your personal life. At the end of the day, your dreams can't hold you when times are tough. That person/persons who can support you, comfort you when things feel hopeless will feed your soul in a way intangible dreams and goals can't. At the end of the day the last face you see when you fall asleep/first thing you see when you wake up will bring into focus what's truly important.

Thank you again Sam for another emotional and inspiring video, always hyped when I see that you published another video 🙏🏼 Don‘t let some statistics ruin your mood, you always touch some hearts and isn‘t that worth so much more than a stupid, meaningless IG reel that performs well but is forgotten within seconds?

Great message and well filmed. We as creators can totally relate with you ... When our video hit 100k views we were blasted away by the amount ... But actually the new videos are the ones that are getting better and better even though they have only reached a few people. It's really not about the numbers in life. It's about the feelings and emotions that come with your creations that you created Keep it up creators, all you need to be is yourself and leave room for your creativity ❤
