Oh my goodness. I'm totally jealous of your parry ability. I definitely don't have that skill. That's why I'm always carrying a shield. Also, you're the second person I've seen say that the red ant club is the best early weapon. I've never seen it do as much damage as the bone blade. Mostly because I quickly run out of stamina using the club. I can get at least 20 hits with the dagger for every 5 hits with the club. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a mutation I should be using?

Hello AstroNerdGames. Question will the pillars be enough to support the structures? Could I use the pillars in strategic spots under the structure? The reason I'm mentioning the pillars is that they take a little bit less resources and less space and you can put them in most anchoring places so if they take out one you still have other backups. Would this still work as an idea or do you think I should go with scaffolding like you mentioned?

I'm not a new player, but I've never been a lab past the Hedge lab, as I tend to repeat worlds over and over and never make progress.. I'm proud to say the first time, I'm almost now to the pond lab. At this moment, I am playing on custom mode, but no game breaking changes.. in fact, mind breaking.. I like myself a challenge, so the only change I did was put the game on Whoa! Mode and set the creatures Health Scaling to 5X.. It's been very difficult, but I'm enjoying it and planning on staying in this world. The first ant alone felt like a boss battle, but now I'm once again overpowering them. Thank you for this video.

Genuine question but overall how would you rate this pond base…like in terms of resources and safety from the bugs? I ask because on paper so to speak it sounds like a good idea but since I’m still learning the game idk for sure how viable of a plan it actually is.
@AstroNerdGames4 ай бұрын
Read all your comments so I'll try to reply to all of them here. Regarding the pond base, it is defnitely possible with enough resources and a lot of patience for resources to respawn. This is about the usual size I normally build for my longer playthroughs opposed to my quicker playthroughs like my "no armor" and "one life" videos. As for how long it took me to finish the game on my own for my first playthrough, it was around 135 in-game days. However, the majority of the time it took me to finish the game was due to building the tree house. Honestly, if you're still new to grounded, don't focus on how long it takes you to finish the game. Just enjoy the fact that it's all new and have a fresh perspective. That's why I have so much love for the game. Really take the time to understand the mechanics and details of the game and challenge yourself to discover different ways to play the game. Maybe it's just me for having an old fashioned mentality of figuring things out on my own, but the satisfaction of accomplishing something without looking something up is immeasurable. That being said, the first playthrough of any game will always take you the longest time to finish, but it's more than just a lack of experience. It's the journey of discovering something new and facing constant challenges that will push you to figure out how to overcome them. Being stuck with no direction is frustrating, yes, however, don't be discouraged. It'll come with time. One day, you'll be an expert with the right amount of determination. My fastest time to complete the story was around 20- 30 days. That comes with knowledge of the game, going nonstop without sleeping (in the game), and doing only what is necessary to finish the story. My "one life" video took around 50 days to complete with building a small base, and defeating every boss. It took around 30 days in my "no armor" video to complete the story and beat all the bosses. If you do need any direction and are having an extra difficult time figuring things out, watch some playthroughs for fun to get a better idea of how to go about the game. No shame in that and how you go about the game will be unique to you. If it fits, it ships. And side note... If you do decide to specifically watch my playthrough series, please know that my first Grounded episode was the very first video I ever created... My earlier episodes were all over the place and might not be super helpful if you need guidance, but if I really look at it, my let's play series was literally just me exploring the game, so... no regrets here. As I became more experienced making content, my videos got shorter and more to the point while (hopefully) still being entertaining lol. The main takeaway or focus of the let's play series was exploring and having fun! I made mistakes and questioned many times of the decisions I made during the series, however, it's a journey I am so glad I got to record and keep forever. Hope that clears things up.

@@AstroNerdGames so since seeing that pond base video I may have went on a grass plank and weed stem collecting spree because as of now I have 69 weed stems (lol 69 😂😂😂) and over 319 grass planks…honest opinion do you think that would be plenty for a relatively safe and sturdy base…at least until I get to the upper yard and get better things?

Is this new game +?
@AstroNerdGames4 ай бұрын
I believe I made this video a bit before the 1.4 update came out. The thing about NG+ is adjusting to each boss you fight, so builds will most likely change for all of them. I'm still making my way through NG+ stages which is why I haven't covered it yet. However, even if I can't give you any specified advice or tips regarding to NG+, I gotta send you over to my friend's channel. I highly recommend this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHbZnqxrmbJ5fMU. It's a preparation guide for starting out in NG+ and he also covers some material about how to survive through NG+ on his channnel through his experience of taking on the new challenges each NG+ level will throw at you. Definitely give it a look and I hope it helps! Also, keep in mind when looking for the "best" overall build, chances of it being nerfed are extremely likely to have already happen. My biggest advice is to look up the stats and effects for weapons and armor. The Grounded patch notes will also have updated information regarding the nerfs so try not to solely go off of the Grounded wiki lol. It acts as a basic guide to understand every weapon, armor piece, mutation effects, etc., however, it's not always up to date. Grounded will always be the first to come out with new information and then the wiki will update directly after that. Just a tip lol. Anyways, I hope this helps and good luck with NG+!

Genuine question but how do you build in such a way on stuff like the baseball so it neither looks like stuff is just magically floating in midair or phasing through objects and it looks more natural because yes i know it’s a video game and it’s not always supposed to make sense but it just irks me when I see that…sooooo any tips?
@AstroNerdGames4 ай бұрын
Building on structures like the baseball are definitely challenging, but it is indeed possible. I guess it depends on how you want to do it. It's hard to describe lol. What I would do is use scaffolding to build around the baseball so you're starting from the ground up. Use stairs or ladders to get up. I understand what you mean though. You don't want one flat platform on top and it's more likely you want the baseball to be the focus of the base. Keep in mind, you might have to start in the right position from the ground in order to shape it around the baseball itself. Hmmmmm... It's also a challenge because not only is it round but Grounded makes it hard to build into man-made structures. It might take some time, however, I would use the triangle floors to wrap around the baseball. Using scafolding (which are cheap to craft) will give you a better idea of how you want the base to look. If you watch my Ground "let's play" series, I made a tree house that wraps all the way around the entire tree. What really makes the build is using stairs to create levels so it doesn't look flat (biggest pet peave of mine). Don't be afraid to build diagonally. There are stairs that you can now use to make the build look more natural. Here's my "let's play" episode where I finished my tree house kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYCph5-Mnqaqhq8. You can skip to the treehouse parts if needed to give you more of an idea lol. Last thing and I feel like I emphasized this in every build video... Use different structures to add depth, texture, and color. You'll know what I mean when you watch the video. It's massive for a base to look more appealing opposed to looking flat both structurally and color wise. Anyways, SUPER long description lol, but I really hope this helped. If you still need help, I'd be more than happy to make a video where I do a "let's build" around the baseball and other man-made structures, so if that interests you and if you're still having a hard time, please let me know! LAST THING! You can join my discord as well to show me your progress and if you need additional help, you can send me pictures of the base and I can give you some ideas to help with the build. Discord: discord.gg/Xz2Z4Mzc9h. Happy building!!!

@@AstroNerdGames no problem you amazing human…my reasoning for attempting to make a base on the baseball was because it’s relatively close to a field lab yet I keep struggling with being raided my the damn red ants…also now that I’m thinking about it…speaking of the red ants…in your opinion would it help or hurt me in the long run to feed the red ant queen the poisonous version of her favorite food?
@AstroNerdGames4 ай бұрын
@@Lostmasteraced I'm really glad you asked and you can learn from my mistakes. There's a third option. While you have the defaulted recipe to befriend all the ant queens which makes all of the ants neutral, I highly recommend you seek out the other two recipes: poison AND infected! Let me explain lol. There's a reason to the madness. Infect the ant queen FIRST in the base playthrough. When you do, you will enter NG+ 1 which will then bring in infected ants which will aggro onto to you even if you have the antbassador mutation. You will RARELY see normal ants after you infect the queen in the next universe. The REASON why you want to infect the queen first is not only will it unlock new recipes to craft (one of which is vital for surviving NG+), but it will make it more bearable to unlock newer items as you advance through each NG+. You WANT to do this early game because it. will. get. harder. I cannot emphasize this enough lol. You can get the infected mushroom sandwich recipe at the haze lab. This will ONLY be available in the original universe! Of course, this is just what I would do now that I know what I know now lol. Befriending and poisoning don't give you any benefits that will help you through NG+ if and only if you continue to NG+. Actually... if I think about it, not a lot of people advance to NG+... Sooooo... maybe all of this is moot LOL! SO, I guess if you decide to NOT do NG+, your decision will affect the rest of the playthrough. The question is: how long do you see yourself playing the base game? Befriending all the queens, in my opinion, will probably be the best out of the two options. While poisoning them will open a room that you can gain loot from and gaining new recipes for armor, I don't think it's really worth it considering you can just poison them later in NG+, but again... probably not relavent lol. Anyways, my advice (if you don't do NG+) is to befriend the ant queens. The antbassador mutation comes in clutch while in the base playthrough. Fire ants are annoying lol. I say to do this based on my skills and knowledge of the game. The strategist armor has pretty decent buffs, however, there are better armor and weapon builds that exist already. That is all! Lol...
