Just an observation regarding the box end thickness. It seems like the inner ring on the Milwaukee is thinner than the inner ring of the gearwrench. Out of curiosity, can you measure the thickness from the inner spline to the outer wall? I really feel like they are the same thickness but the Milwaukee just seems thicker because of the thicker outer and thinner inner. And vice versa for the gearwrench.

Tell me about the mounts on the various generations. It looks like this newer one with the AAA battery uses an Aimpoint T1/T2 mount while the old CR2032 uses an ACOG mount. Is this correct? I really want a prism that uses T1/T2 mounts.

I have a Buckmark Rifle, not the pistol. It's based on the pistol and VERY similar. I agree that it's amazingly complicated to clean. Because it requires 2 hex keys, and highly recommended Torque wrench! There is a bolt inside that will gradually loosen unless torqued properly. I think it's hilarious that earlier Ruger's had a notorious reputation as being difficult. I never had any kind of a problem. I had been shooting Ruger .22s since the early 70's. What today we would call a Mk 1. My mother would either ship me off to Grandma's Farm or Dad's Ranch for the summer. I MUCH preferred the ranch! Dad "issued" me a Mk1 pistol, a rifle, and a Saddle to be used exclusively as "mine" for the summer. Of course we kids had to work to pay for our ammo! Which cost an amazing $7 for a brick of 500 which you could buy at the grocery store once a month! Every night, if we had shot the guns, we were required to field strip and clean under supervision. Dad was a notorious cleanliness nut about his guns. So yeah, I got an early education about the importance of cleaning your firearms.

Solid video, been looking everywhere to see if Kidd trigger packs fit in the MI chassis. You just saved my build bro! Did you have to modify the chassis at all to get it to fit? Can't seem to find the TCR22 so going with a Volquartsen receiver with a Kidd match bull barrel. Hopefully they all fit together..
@TheFullNeilson
@TheFullNeilson 15 күн бұрын
I would not recommend the Midwest chassis for your build unless you are prepared to make some modifications. If you are running a receiver that is longer than a standard receiver you will have to cut part of the chassis to make it fit. Also the Kidd trigger does not fit without some modification to the chassis or trigger housing. I hope this info helps you out. Good luck

@TheFullNeilson Ya was reading about the receiver before going with the Volquartsen. Originally wanted the tuff 22 but it has an extended rail section in the front. The Volquartsen seems to be very similar shape wise to the oem receiver. Fingers crossed for that one. I'm curious what type of modifications you had to fit the trigger pack? Where was it getting stuck n what did you file down? Once it is in can you fit the quick mag release lever?

Good review, I think shelving the Waypoint and comparing the MPR and Cross to a Fix is more apples to apples. End of the day if you’re using these for hunting .5 MOA is not necessary. Hunting “accuracy” needs are different than “PRS”. I do own 3 Fix, 1 MPP AND 1 MPR. All shoot accurately and I’ve hunted with all and no issues.

I think the biggest flaw is that Smith and Wesson named it the competitor when it is really an awesome duty gun not a true competition gun and that has skewed what the consumers have perceived it to be. Smaller gripes would be the long magazine base plates instead of extended magazines and I would have preferred it be direct milled for the rmr pattern

I would call this the ultimate screwdriver comparison video . . . though I do wish you would put a bit more information in there, and include some screwdrivers from Hazet and Snap-On too. Thanks for this comparison. I have a set of heavy duty Stahlwille screwdrivers, which I love. If you ever buy more screwdrivers, just to compare, I suggest trying some (or at least one) of those too. They too have impact caps. Oh, and then there's PB Swiss. They make a set with three phillips and three flat-head screwdrivers with impact caps, and I'd love to see those added to this comparison some day too. ;)

I also have all 3 but in 308. The cross is a 1.5" at best with 5 diff types. CA is 1/2", WP is 3/4". WP best action, sig next, CA last. CA best trig. Sig chassis is shit comp to CA. WP stock is Alpine hunter and the best fixed you can get. If CA had slick bolt movement it would be my fav.

After watching a previous video of yours you sound simple and practical, I try to make firearm purchases off of those two things, with that said, do you think running a 556 with a dedicated suppressor for home defense is doable enough that the shots won't be so disorienting, I will if I have to but rather not have to buy a 300 blackout or 9mm, would prefer to be able to make a supress 556 work instead, thanks
@TheFullNeilson
@TheFullNeilson Ай бұрын
You do not need a suppressor for a home defense rifle in any of the calibers you named to not be disoriented. Guns are very loud and they are substantially louder in doors. If you have ever fired a high-powered rifle on the range without hearing protection you know what I am talking about. It will leave your ears ringing. With that said If you ask law enforcement or military personal who have had to use their firearms to stop a threat how loud a gun was, or how much recoil it had, they will tell you that they didn’t even notice the sound or recoil. There is phenomenon that occurs because of the intense focus on the threat, excitement, fear, adrenaline etc. That causes your body to react differently. I have experienced this many times when hunting. When you have a game animal in your crosshairs and you light one off you barely even notice the recoil, the sound, or the concussion. When you do it on the range it can be a painful experience. Now if you want to run a suppressor to reduce the panic attack your family might have from the sound of you shooting a gun in the house, or to reduce your muzzle signature, you need to be aware of the down sides and build your rifle around them. The big down side is length. When you take a 16-inch rifle and add a 6-8inch suppressor it makes it much harder to use the rifle indoors. I find 12.5 inch barrels with suppressors on them are still very maneuverable. I personally would not recommend anything longer than that. I would also not recommend anything longer than 10.5 in 5.56 because of the shorter dwell times which reduce the reliability of the platform. Also you are going to want a low back pressure suppressor or and adjustable gas block to make sure the setup is gassed properly. As far as caliber is concerned, I would never consider a 9mm when I can have the same length and weight in a 5.56. I think the 300 blackout is a very niche caliber. Personally, I am not willing to neuter performance by losing energy on target and the ability to defeat a variety of types of body armor for better suppression. If you are going to run a 300-blackout supersonic then it seems even more pointless to me. I believe all the complaints I have ever heard about a 5.56 underperforming out of a shorter barrel can be fixed with 75-77 grain ammunition, shot placement, and shot volume. Anyway, I know this was a long explanation but there are a lot of things to consider. I hope this helps. Have a nice day, Avery Neilson
