Since I started running, I’ve had 3 calf injury episodes. In each of those episodes, I was wearing shoes with 10mm. Admittedly, there could be any number of reasons for my injuries, (not least being my own calf strength), but it has now become a prerequisite for me to have > 10mm drop in any shoes I buy….it may now just be superstition but, while I’m injury free, I’m not changing!

Thanks for your feedback. Every injury is different and variables that influence them are also. The great thing about the running shoes industry now, is we find shoes are more accomodating to a wider audience. 15-20 years ago I found it challenges to fit a runner with anything less than 8mm drop, unless we jumped into a traditional racing shoe. If a >10mm drop and above works for you then that is perfectly fine and normal. Weighing up load (volume or training, with tissue tolerance in conjunction with your bodies adaptation to vertcial forces) will lead to successful footwear selections and hopefully a successful training block. Appreiate you jumping in and giving us your feedback. All the best with your training. Happy Running, Josh

What’s a good shoe for standing and walking while at work on concrete? I notice if I wear a shoe that has a high heel stack height I tend to get some knee pain

Hi, I'm a running shoe retail employee. Could you specify what shoe you have currently so I can evaluate the minimalism index of your shoe? Also, there is not a scientific consensus about it, but many studies tend to conclude that maximalist shoes increase the stress applied to the knee, the hip and the low back. Unlike minimalist shoes, who apply greater stress on the feet, the Achille tendon and the calf. In summary, I am trying to recommend you a shoe that is less maximalist, but not too minimalist where your body won't suffer a big shock due to the unsuitability to a greater stress on different body structure.

@@jeremielessard6496 well right now I was working in the Nike pegasus. I just ordered the Nike react infinity 3s but I notice when I wear a shoe like my low top Jordan 1s I really don’t have knee pain but of course those don’t not have cushion but i slightly over pronate but it’s really only my left foot and that’s the knee that bothers me when I do wear a shoe that’s high in stack height
