I can get into the full lotus but I can’t find the balance without supporting myself. I can do 1 hand but I can’t seem to figure out how to put both my hands on my knees

Think about your shoulders being your base. You need to keep them active and push them into the mat. Lots of core work too - keep it really strong to help you stay upright and balanced. Hope that helps! X
