I love how Mr. Kogan never rush the music he is playing and how he values every note he plays with his excellent skills and abilities!

Highly accurate left-hand fingering and rather fast bowing with the astonishing initial speed of the bow! Absolutely the best violinist whom we have had for these one hundred years.

For anyone wondering, this version of the 24th caprice is a mix of the Fritz Kreisler's and the Leopold Auer's versions and includes variations from Paganini's original work. It is mostly Kreisler's version, but in Kreisler's there is only 8 variations, Kogan includes some variations from Paganini's original work, like the third variation (octaves) whis is omitted in Kreisler's version, and he also plays violin solo as it was originally intended; Kreisler's and Auer's versions are recital version arrangements which both include piano acompaniment; Kreisler's includes a final variation (8th Kreisler's variation) which is slow and all harmonics which here, is omitted and replaced by Auer's Finale variation instead; Auer's version is the one Heifetz plays is his famous recording with piano accompaniment.
Maravilloso Nivel expresivo ; con un Fraseo , estilo y un sonido de excelencia .

Yes, the Tchaikovsky with Silvestri would be my choice for that work, but Kogan was also one of the very few who had the ability to play the Beethoven Concerto as (I believe) it should be played. I also judge great violinists by the Brahms and in that work he was also one of the elect.

Every, more or less capable, solo playing, concert Violinist. Has this piece in his(her's) repertoire. But only few, can play it. And even less where able to do something delicious. Kogan was one of those, rare, capable of playing it, just like he is just sharing a story with people. I had chance to meet this fantastic, very humble, incredible maestro. No one, plays Paganini, like Kogan. There is one more, Yuri Merzhevsky. But unfortunately he died too young, at the age of 45. And the is only few Paganini recordings by him. Thank you Mr. Kogan.

Did Jean-Baptiste Lully compose "La Folia," or had it been around as a folk melody and he was the first major composer to "take the ball and run with It"? P.S. IMO Nathan Milstein was one-of-a-kind, and there is no point in comparing him with Heifitz or anyone else.
