Genuinely thought the movie was well done for what it is. Good ole movie. No real world political message abt left n right. Hence why cali and texas r allies in it. And production wise: Great sound design and pretty good effects. My main gripe was the Apache Chaingun sounding like a weird minigun/rotary canon. Oh and the 50 cal wouldve like. Yeeted those infantry when they pushed the gate.

I don't think the Loyalist faction had any armor, motorized or airforce in the entire movie. Even though there are armories and airbases in those states. And I guess the 2nd and 4th naval fleet, decided to sit the war out. It felt like the Loyalists were set up to lose.

I got the impression that this President was pretty unpopular, or at the very least extremely polarizing, especially after he unconstitutionally got a third term. Not too unreasonable to believe that most of the military would end up defecting.

The Western Forces are a secessionist militia made up of civilian volunteers and the national guard units of Texas and California. JLTVs are currently very limited amongst National Guard units (only the Minnesota National Guard currently have them). It’s not outlandish to believe that they would be stuck with outdated equipment.

Considering that a lot of this movie might not make sense, having most of the military fighting against evil Ron Swanson does actually make sense. In 2020 Trump tried to get the military and the CIA on his side, but General Milley and CIA director Gina Haspel refused to let him get away with it, and even acting SecDef Chris Miller proved more hindrance than help. Which is part of why when a mob of larpers and self-proclaimed militia attacked the Capitol, he was so happy about it; they filled the role that the actual military refused to fill.

Is that really that unrealistic? The paint job point is kinda silly since the rebel forces are from the west, and probably spent the first half of the war fighting in the very sandy American southwest to link up their states. After that, it makes sense that wider spread repainting would be difficult for a rebel military after many years of destructive war. Hell the U.S. military with all its logistical might was unable to supply its soldiers with the proper desert camouflage for desert storm with 6 months preparation. In comparison the western forces had more immediate issues and less logistical capacity

They made the Western Forces OP. They had APC's, tanks, choppers, Raptors, literally everything. While the Loyalists had nothing from the looks of it, even though there were several armor depots in the Loyalist states, Virginia alone has four depots. Its like they made them weak on purpose.
@sergiohelgueramartinez747911 күн бұрын
A) The fact that a state might be shown as loyalist may not mean anything, modern civil wars are a lot messier than "this state is in this faction so everyone and everything in that state joins that faction". Just look at stuff like maps of the Syrian or Lybian civil wars. B) You are ignoring the fact that the movie's point isn't "This is what we think a real second civil war would look like" , the movie's point is: "We are going to put what you tend to see in civil wars out there in a USA context so American audiences will be shocked into caring about it."
@katiesims307510 күн бұрын
You’re also forgetting a majority of the loyalist surrendered. The only loyalist that didn’t surrender were hardcore soldiers and a handful of secrete service in DC

@@sergiohelgueramartinez7479 I have some doubt that the movie's goal was to showcase civil wars in an American setting; if it was, they did a terrible job. There is practically nothing to relate to other than the fact that the equipment and geography is American. There is little actual politics showcased in the movie, ergo, there is little incentive for Americans to believe that they should care about civil war in America.

@f-86zoomer379 күн бұрын
Yeah he did. It’s stated in the movie that he orders his troops to shoot journalists on sight in DC and also stayed in office for a third term. That’s why when you see loyalist soldiers being captured either by unorganized rebels or WF, they are immediately executed on the spot. They must have done extremely terrible things as well beyond not following the constitution. You even see the WF soldier shoot an unarmed Secret Service agent. There must have been some very bad blood and baggage.

1:58 Sandworms: TODAY IS A BUFFET! The irony of the Sardaukar is that they're absolutely the elite... in conventional warfare. Conventional warfare in Dune requires shields and close combat weaponry, with the killing blow being slowed down to pierce the shield. Shields can't be used on Arrakis due to the worms being drawn to them. Thus, these experts in shielded melee combat are completely incapable of dealing with foes who are used to unshielded combat in the desert. This is why the Emperor had to be lured to Arrakis: On their home ground where they could use standard tactics, the Sardaukar would win, just like when they stormed the Atreides estate. It was only by bringing them out in the desert where all of their advantages were neutralized could the Fremen win. Striking where your enemy is weakest and you are strongest is the most fundamental principles of strategic warfare, and Paul was taught very well by his mentors, men like Thufir Hawat, Duncan Idaho, Gurney Halleck and Doctor Yueh, as well as deep education in Bene Gesserit methods and techniques from his mother.
