That is some well-built wall, are they expecting a siege haha
@highgatehandyman647912 сағат бұрын
I would opt to build the corners up first in this. That way you have a strinng line for safety. Obviously im not as skilled as you so thats why i would over think it before hand. Good free hand work requires more experience. I rely on profiles
@robsonger16 сағат бұрын
@@highgatehandyman6479 yes, I agree. I always use a line to keep the arch in line and plumb with the faceplate but here the arch is higher than the wall so I simply kept the centre 20mm back, so everybrick I laid I kept 20mm proud of the centre and a double check was to plumb from the line I had at the springing point as that was the highest point that the line was able to be. The alternative was to use straight edges or dead men but with there being the tile creasing courses, that seemed too time consuming to set up especially with there being very little timber to work with.

Rob...idea? You should do the chopping/measuring of the bricks etc, construct the ply templates and sell to people as a kit. There is loads of people from all demographics that would luv to crack on with this with their space at the bottom of the garden.

What a complex and challenging job. Super interesting, this obviously requires a lot of focus and thought going into the planning and layout. And then there's still getting the work just right, I imagine it is very satisfying to see this come together. I am really enjoying the explanations of everything, also when it comes to the limitations, and how sometimes there is no perfect solution, and the fixes. The beauty of brickwork is exactly in that IMO, having to work with the dimensions and tolerances, and the result is always unique. Lovely work. Can't wait to see more.

Sir, thank you for this tutorial. Quite informative and the demonstra is commendable. I have seen quite a good number of profiles, some of which were poorly constructed while other too expensive. But here is an effective wooden profile that also serves as a plumb. This is my take home. You're simply good at work and neat. 🎉 I will keep an offline copy of this video for reference. Could you please inform me about the mix ratio of your mortar? Also, what sand is this, river sand or clay? Looks somewhat white
