Kidney stones and vitamin C. I kept taking the ascorbic acid (vit C) for about 6 days trying to kill a chest and nose infection. Probably 80 to 100g over the course of each day. After a week I can now feel quite painful kidney stones passing (I hope they're passing). There were earlier occasions when I used the treatment excessively. Months later I was hospitalised with a large stone. This time it's taken just a few days and it's my other kidney. I'd be careful with vitamin C. Especially if prone to stones. All everyone has said is so true. Ours could go running for a whole day and still want more. They need training. But has to be fairly sensitive training. They dont respond well to harsh voices. But friendly voices and lots of mental training. But like most dogs they need exercise!!

Love English Springers. So easy to train. Respond to whistle commands or hand gestures easily. I never have to use a lead. Won’t even cross a road unless I command too. I could walk or bike past the road and look back and she will be waiting for my command/whistle to cross.

Have our 2nd Springer Spaniel, a 5 year old tricolor. My only regret on his behalf, is that we're in Florida (instead of Upstate NY) and he can't go in the ponds or lakes here because of gators. He LOVES the water. I also have a rescue hound mix, who was an escape artist and so hard to get him to come back when called. But a Springer is fantastic on recall, it's almost like you couldn't lose them if you tried. But, I keep an eye on him so he doesn't get into anything risky. I do have some woods we can go to and let him off leash, but it's well away from any water. He loves the Gulf beach when we can get there. My Springer is my best pal ever. They're just amazing dogs.

Since last August I have one, she is 19 month now and it is the greatest dog in the world !

I've been sober since January 2nd 2002 and in the beginning i went to NA meetings weekly but soon had to quit going. 30 minutes before each meeting people are outside in parking lot smoking cigarettes for the drug nicotine and then they stand up in the meeting and say how long they've been sober. They're not sober. Smokers are active users. Just because smoking is socially accessible doesn't change the fact it's drug use. Nicotine kills more people than all other drug and alcohol use combined. You're not sober if you're a smoker period. Have fun at your NA meetings with the hypocrites.

I used some of these techniques (changing direction without notice) with my retriever and it worked a treat. He always kept an eye on me. I also trained him to come to me using a dog whistle, using clicker training and the gambling principle (you start by giving favourite treats each time, and then move on to just treating 2 out of 3 times, then 1 out of 3, until they're never quite sure if there's a treat. Which gets them far more excited than knowing there's always a treat). I am considering a spaniel and the idea of gun-dog training sounds like a great idea. Thank you for the suggestion.
