Great video! And back to the topic, are you telling me that if in 1 year my profits in ETF's (when selling) are €10,000, I should give away €4,100 in Taxes? Or even worse, if in 8 years I have earned €100,000, I should pay €41,000 in taxes even if I don't sell?... I must have misunderstood everything...

Do you still need to pay taxes in Ireland if you move abroad, let's say to the u.k? I have an etf portfolio but I don’t plan on selling anytime soon and I may not be in Ireland when that happens. Tks

Thanks for the info, thinking of moving home and I’m looking at continuing my investments. Can you do a self directed option? You pick the stocks ETFs with the dividend % you want like SVOL at 16% or VOO in the S&P500 or its equivalent for example. That’s the only way I would do something like this or you will end up with 5-6% or you pay a ridiculous 41%. Is there a retirement fund option on 212 or resolute, or another option. Thanks 👍.

Thank you so much for this video! Can you please let me know if there is a quicker way to submit the CG1 form online (via the myrevenue webiste) or if sending it by post is the only way? Thanks! And apologies if you have covered this in the video and I missed it. My second question is, what exchange rate should we use to convert shares in US Dollars to Euro? Tried googling and different websites give different exchange rates at a particular date. So does Revenue provide an exchange rate to use for when we receive the shares? (We have the share prices in USD but just not sure where to source the exchange rate info from, to convert it to Euro). Please reply :)

Are ARF pensions inherited by unmarried surviving partners really taxed @ 73% (33%IHT+40%IT)? Revenue taking more than the beneficiary is entitled to strikes me as grossly unfair.

Thanks for the info, I’ll be checking out a lot more of your videos 👍 I’m thinking about moving home (we’ll see now lol), looking for a trading app that I can use to continue my US investments. It must have access to the S&P500 ETFs, I may be misunderstanding this, the tax is applied on the dividends that are automatically reinvested or on DRIP as an income? Your technically being taxed twice on the same income, 1st when it’s reinvested at 41% 2nd when you withdraw it at 41%!! That 82% of your dividends in taxes. That seems a bit Irish!! Dividends are taxed at 15% CGT here in Canada and only when withdrawing them as an income. You are charged a withholding tax of 15% on US ETF dividends if you withdraw them as income but not if they are reinvested or in a retirement account. 41% is outrageously high! Even @ 33% CGT it’s an indicator that they really don’t want you becoming financially independent! Kinda reminds me of why we left in the first place 😂 With those tax rates it would be cheaper for me to rent a small studio apartment here and do my investment through my bank here from home, isn’t that sad.

Currently, all cryptos I mined are still sitting on my wallet (Revolut). If I withdraw them, will they be subject to CGT or income tax? Thanks!
