And this is the difference between a confident character and a cocky one. they are not the same just because you can't understand how they still have hope things will turn out good in the end doesn't mean you get to treat them any kind of way. and it doesn't mean you get to kick them when they are down. confidence gives you courage to win... and to fail. and sometimes it's all you have that keeps you from giving up completely even if some think that confidence comes off as cocky. they think you are delusional and don't know it... thing is you do. you know you're being delusional but... the alternative? is giving up. is loosing hope, loosing everything. People die when they stop fighting when they give up. it's something that most people take for granted. the friend that's always positive! that always has hope... even when the people they are doing it for do their damnedest to beat it out of them. one callous word at a time. this is what happens when the positive character's 'delusion' breaks. when something hurts them so deeply that they can't pretend that it didn't. and it's in moments like this the one who has been saying you're cocky and arrogant sees just how wrong they are when they don't have someone willing to put their world back together for them when everything goes wrong. and instead they have to be that person for the person that was that person for them all along.

It’s a comic based off of the show, sonic prime basically in the series, sonic shattered some kind of prism which creates different alternate worlds and sonic and shadow are working together to get the shards back to fix their reality and in this world that they’re in right now in this comic is a world where eggman rules and it’s like sonic never existed and he finds tales who is just angry for having no friends and being bullied and when sonic finds him they become friends for the first two seasons but then he betrays sonic in season three and steals the shards that sonic and shadow need to fix their reality

Tl;dr: it's based off of a netflix Sonic TV Show where only sonic's friends are split across various dimensions. I'd reccomend you watch it, it's a decent show (although sonic's way too cocky all the time)
