I like the raw look too when I strip down the paint on my bikes and don't want to bother with the painting process. But I find out that the rust comes up quickly if your clear coat layer is too thin.

Thes are some beautiful looking bikes!!! My first Haro was a Black Revo just like that one, but I did finally upgrade to a Mirra Pro way back and it was my dream bike at the time. It was a raw version that I rode the hell out of. I managed to keep it all this time, but it’s in nowhere near as good condition as these.
@nowthatsmidschool
@nowthatsmidschool Ай бұрын
It's great that you hung on to the Mirra Pro! If you're not precious about the original colour (or lack of it😅) you could easily restore it! Restoring isn't fir everyone though. A lot of people have memories tied to the bumps and scrapes on their bikes. Such a good collection, wasn't it! Thanks for watching! 🙏

I wish midschool style’s & geometry were still available. Not everyone wants the pump track race or street all the time. I find newer bikes less enjoyable honestly. I don’t even ride my newer bikes because of this.
@nowthatsmidschool
@nowthatsmidschool Ай бұрын
I certainly miss the character that was built into Midschool bike components, but I personally love my current ride. A 2021 Metal Bikes Journeyman. Not light but not heavy. Perfect geometry. Still 74.5 head angle, 71 seat tube angle, so close to midschool geo. But yeah, theirs definitely no flair in design these days.
@dannywhac
@dannywhac Ай бұрын
@@nowthatsmidschool Totally agree - there's if anything a fair bit more on the options scale now for frame geo and the like than there was. Admittedly a lot of the frames don't have the chutzpah that we did have back in the 90's and can look a bit sterile, but did you really need a platform on a dirt bike lol. I'm a lanky sod and there were few offerings pre late 90's for a TT that suited me, other than race frames.

@nowthatsmidschool 2 ай бұрын
I can only guess that Haro of this era wasn't sold in the same kind of numbers as the GTs of equivalence. Crazy really. Between the Freestylers and Sports era and the Mirra/Nyquist era, did Haro have any notable riders on the squad, pushing the brand's coverage in magazines and videos?
@bmx_mid_school_2023-uc2vr
@bmx_mid_school_2023-uc2vr Ай бұрын
@@nowthatsmidschool Yes Haro was big in the 80s and you have to pick your side between GT 😆. Both had their champion : Bob Haro and Bob Morales. Both left those brands in the 90s ( in between we've seen the rise of Hoffman and other micro brands ). Not so much Haro coverage in the media as you mentioned until the X games ( Mirra/ Nyquist ) save them. A part of the GT Show ( Aluminium ) which is an icon bike in the Flatland, the Haro Master 1999 ( Cromo ) was heavy and could not compete in this category. This is why collecting those brands / models have historic value.
@nowthatsmidschool
@nowthatsmidschool Ай бұрын
@bmx_mid_school_2023-uc2vr I reference to weight, the Master in this episode really surprised me in terms of weight. I don't know why I wasn't expecting it to be heavy. S&M Sabbath, Standard Tao, Hoffman EP....they're all heavy and I have recently handled all 3 of those! The Master was amazing to see in person though. The details! The GT Show was special in flatland. Very few Aluminium frames in the discipline at that time and VERY expensive.

Love the content had a question. I recently purchased what i was told was a solid wasp frame for 40 bucks. I believe its a king kobra but im not sure it 21 inch top tube and has a lightning bolt plate on down tube only no plate on top tube so not sure
@nowthatsmidschool
@nowthatsmidschool 2 ай бұрын
That sounds like a Wasp. They didn't have a top tube gusset and the downtube gusset did have a cut-out. Less lie lightening bolt and more like a two triangles joined vertically? Does that sound more like it? The dropouts were also more angular in shape, compared to the KMs.

My parents saved up for my birthday and Christmas to be able to give me one big gift. They gave me a pearl light blue Schwinn Predator Freeform EX 1986 with the white skyway mags, cobra grips. Someone stole it the very next week. I was a CRUSHED 11 year old girl. Broke into my basement garage and stole it.
@nowthatsmidschool

That's horrible! Especially given the lengths your parents went to to get you a gift as good. One thing hasn't changed though, and that's people out there who want what you have and will take it with no remorse if opportunity's presents itself. I think most, if not all of us have been effected either directly or indirectly by such acts and there's no getting away from the fact that it's horrible! My brother and I were working on building site back in the day. About 1999. My brother had picked up a brand new Mongoose Sniper from the nearby bike shop, on behalf of his neighbour. We stored it on the building site (inside an existing building refurb) and someone must have been watching. They came on to the site, looked for and found it and then peddled off. That too was going to be a kid's Christmas present. We ended up having to pay for it ourselves. As kids ourselves, there was always a bike going missing in the village, it seemed. 😞

@@nowthatsmidschool No matter how old you get, you still want your bike back. Thank you for the response, it was really cool of you to write back. I have no idea how much it's worth but the mini of the same bike in Zebra paint, only the frame with no forks is selling for 1,500 online because it's so rare. I only paid 100 bucks for it, but the folks had no idea what it was when they sold it. I don't know, I'd rather have my Schwinn back. Just something about that Schwinn with the bent seat post...you could ride a wheelie for DAYSSSS. Take care, good luck on your channel and best wishes from Birmingham, Alabama.
