Thank you for sharing this video! I’m really intrigued to see your next one, especially since you mentioned switching to an RV trailer. I hope you’ll dive deep into the details of your assessment and what ultimately led you to make this transition. I’m currently preparing for retirement and considering a 45’ Class A, but I’ve also been weighing other options like the Brinkley MODEL G 3250 or a used Living Vehicle HD30. In another video, I saw you discussing Class A maneuverability and your knee surgery, which got me thinking-if you had a lifted TAG axle, your turning radius would be around 40-45 feet, which is quite similar to a 3500/350 pickup with a 30’ fifth-wheel trailer. That said, I’m really fascinated by your analysis of downsizing. Did you ever run into issues getting rejected or refused at certain parks because of your Foretravel Class A’s age? It seems like you’re giving up a lot by moving to an RV trailer, so I’d love to hear more about your thought process. Thanks again for the great content! Looking forward to your next video.

Hi there, I'll try to address all your comments. First what led us to downsize is just wanting a different way to travel into smaller places and being that we would only be traveling 6mo out of the year. With a big Class A you are pretty much relegated to Private campground most of which you are cramped in with others. On the positive note you are in your home away from home, a Class A is very comfortable to live in. The coach itself was very maneuverable for the places we went, and yes lifting the tag helped, but you are pretty long when towing a car and you can't back up with a tow vehicle behind you so it took some homework looking at satellite maps to help know entry and exit. Also there are just some spots you are not going to get into when you see something interesting as you are driving. Where with a trailer you are pretty maneuverable. Never got rejected from a park because of age ( I did a video on that) and only had to send photos once to get approved. No one asks to see proof of age either. We did look at Brinkleys, I think they have one of the nicest interiors in the trailer/5th wheel market, but after digging around I've seen a few people have problems with the axles. Bottom line is that there were many places we would of loved to stop in our travels that we just could not because of our size. I feel that we hit all the major destinations but now looking more towards the camping experiance.

What was your approximate yearly maintenance cost at the dealership?
@RVIntoRetirement5 күн бұрын
That's kind of a difficult question to answer. When we first got the coach there were certain items that were aged and due for replacement. For example tires, batteries, air bags, misc seals and such which we repaired over the years. With all that done, going forward it was just Lube, Oil and Filters plus annual service on the Oasis heater. So I'd say under $1000 a year after the big ticket items were brought into new condition. Now some of those like tires should be replaced every six or seven years so you can budget for that too

question for you, I'm retiring in 3 years and i was looking to snow bird with my wife. we went to look at classA RVS . the wife doesn't like the large class a diesel pusher (my fav) . is the class A pusher too big for snow birding from Jan -may? i like the older 2005-2008 Monaco or country coach but don't want something huge . i don't know about gas rvs and how they are but i know they are a little smaller .
@RVIntoRetirement15 күн бұрын
Monaco's are great for sure in those day ranges, the only thing I would say is diesels are meant to be driven so sitting around when not snowbirdi g

I'm just starting the process. retiring in 3 years and want to purchase an older RV with no DEF doing the snowbird thing. going to leave around January and coming back in May. my wife sems to think the pusher is too much truck for just two of us . i was thinking we are living in this for like 4 months. bigger is better? she wants a shorted gas rig. I'm on the fence. can you help lol
@RVIntoRetirement15 күн бұрын
You can't go wrong with a pusher for snowbirding, but you might want to compromise with a smaller diesel.

which model of cummins and cat motors would you avoid or know of troubles with them
@RVIntoRetirement21 күн бұрын
We had a Cat C9 and Cummins is 500. Both were great. If you go to irv2.com to the engine section you will see the problems based by year. I know both had valve problems in the 600+ engines

Korin and Jim, welcome back. Great to hear you took care on one knee and I assume it went well since you are having the second knee done. My only disappointment is not having a KZbin channel by a fellow Foretravel owner. I have seen your Foretravel a number of times and it is a beautiful coach that a new buyer would not be disappointed buying.

Same thing we discovered. We spent the entire summer on the road. 6 states and 7k. I have bad knees and every 6 months need them injected. They started to actup and took some of the joy away. So we decided we are best with a home base ( are home is northern Texas). We like 3-4 getaways and the occasion 2 week or so trip. Full time is not for everyone. I am 68 and the wife is 64.

@ okay thanks. I’m currently full time in a 2003 Beaver Monterey outfitted with a Cummins 8.3 and rear radiator, which I considered my “starter coach” when I bought it 3 1/2 years ago. I’m looking to upgrade to either a Foretravel or a Country Coach since I want a side radiator and bigger engine. Maybe a tag too, but I don’t want to go too long. I’d love to find a 2003 FT U320 3820 which is a tag shortie.

I wish he would have spent more time on the major,issues all diesel engines had between 03 and 2010, pre DEF. IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THOSE YEARS AND YOU SEE SO MANY LOW MILAGE UNITS, THERES A REASON. He talks DEF but that’s post 2010. Pollution control by engine manufacturers was a disaster till DEF and the engines were a nightmare. Buyer be very aware!
@Tinfoilhat3113 ай бұрын
Seriously? I'll take and pre def/dpf coach all day over the new stuff.
@kylec11543 ай бұрын
@ There’s a huge difference between as you say “per def” and when the work began on diesel particulate control in 03. I agree that anything pre 03 would be just fine if the engine oil was sent for testing and came back good. During that period 03 to 11 entire trucking and construct companies were bankrupted by those engines they couldn’t keep running. If you get a good engine in that period it’s likely it was modified by changing the computer. Huge fines on that if you’re caught and certified mechanics won’t touch them.
