Always great to see your process. You are such an inspiration. I love the idea of "because of this, then that." But I will say, sometimes doing something almost totally unrelated to the section before is pretty fun and can still tell a coherent story. Something like "Bohemian Rhapsody" as an example. That being said, the "this then that" approach is absolutely perfect for your style of music. Sometimes I do sudden changes in my songs not because it necessarily makes a better song, but because it just makes it more fun to write.

Great video! I feel you have multiple levels of because-this-then-that in your tracks, like call and response on the smaller scale and parts leading into each other on the larger scale. PS I also like extra bars here and there :) Nice space to let it breathe. Or an odd time signature thrown in at the right time to subvert some expectations.

So storytelling means no 8bars then 16, then 8, then 16 ?
@psybursonic
@psybursonic Ай бұрын
@@KosmoDeuz not necessarily, story telling means that letting things evolve and be related to each other is more important than any particular structure. Let the evolution of elements guide where your track goes next. Balance the new with the familiar. The narrative guides the structure rather than conforming to it.
@KosmoDeuz

@@psybursonicok, sorry for maybe annoying, but can you plz tell your “intro - buildup- drop- break- outro structure, in Bars ? I just have 7-8 minutes never ending constantly evolving tracks, with 5, than 7 bars on it. Cause I listen to it all the time and can’t tell 😂 My issue is that I play it from actual synth jam wich is a hour long. Than it become a nightmare on the editing stage.
@psybursonic
@psybursonic Ай бұрын
@@KosmoDeuz My main sections are generally 8 or 16 bars, with bars sometimes added in for transitions. I've never counted bars or named my sections things like "build-up," so it probably varies from track to track. One of the main points in this video is that it doesn't matter how many bars these sections are as long as you're telling a story. Guide the listener's ear from section to section, and your arrangement will work. Building out a more typical song structure from an hour-long synth jam is indeed a daunting task... if it was me, I'd probably cheery-pick the best ideas out of the jam and build a more typical arrangement based upon that.

Amazing. Nowadays we can use Beat Breaker which is great but I love this kind of creative workarounds. By chance, what do you think of Logic's stock synth for psy or offbeat bass?
@psybursonic
@psybursonic 2 ай бұрын
I don’t often use Logic’s stock synths with other 3rd party options being much better workflows imo. I do use Sculpture sometimes, and the E-piano and Organ sound good too. But I’m not reaching for Alchemy over Vital, Phaseplant, Pigments or Current.

Couldn’t hear the kids the misses had her phone going with those random vids she watches 🤭❤the vids but need to make them a little more like normal for more a more broader type of application. I will say effects are a bit more nicer to use than what your tying to do here. Just mix effects like they did in the old days bud it’s so much more fun dub it bud. This vid gets a bit much with all the macros and the programing your using it all can be done with mixing in effects. Love the content though

What I love about the Kilohearts ecosystem is you can basically do anything and don’t need to buy other mixing effects cuz you can make pretty much anything to your own taste. The programming is work up front but afterwards I have really useable presets at my fingertips
