Really helpful video, many thanks! New to all of this, but have never really tackled Vital before. There's lots to it, but yours is the first video that puts it into context. Being able to see it all integrate into a track is invaluable. Plus this seems like a really neat way of getting around phase issues with bass... essentially you've combined two basses into the same instance. Nice!

I’d recommend Dash Glitch’s channel for sound design tutorials. More psytrance focused but many of the concepts apply to other psy genres as well. 🙂

Great tutorial! Are you familiar with the Fletcher Munson curve? It is based on studies that show how we perceive loudness at different frequencies. So the really low sub frequencies can actually be way louder in dB but we will perceive them as being much quieter.
@psybursonic Жыл бұрын
I am, I often use that curve on Slick EQ M on my stereo output for longer mixing session where I'd like to mix a bit more quiet and not get fatigued as fast. Because of Fletcher Munson, I like to check my mixes fairly loud to get more even perception of the balance, but not for a very long time. Part of the reason I do the remap with the volume of the bass is because if those upper bass notes are played at the same volume as that low sub they will appear much louder in the mix by comparison. Also, many playback systems just aren't reproducing the low sub as well as they do that upper bass area, so it translates better to have the volume of the higher bass notes a bit lower.

any tips on staying fit and managing back pain for producers?!
@DaddaPsy Жыл бұрын
Exercise and focus on training your back.
@psybursonic Жыл бұрын
Acutally I do, back pain sucks! Exercise is good like Dadda said, core strength especially and stretching your hamstrings. I have a very comfortable office chair in the studio, that helps. It's tempting to just take Ibprofin all the time, but I've trained myself to at least also reach for the ice pack and I've found that regular ice can keep things at bay. I whitewater kayak as my main sport, which is good for core strength but bad for my back sometimes if I land a waterfall too flat or hit rocks hard. This video is very hard to make it through the 12 mins, but I've worked my way up and to longer. Very good exercises for training your back kzbin.info/www/bejne/anOyhamXh8Z3oKs

Seeing as how KZbin says my audience is about half men between 35-44 maybe I should do a video on managing back pain in the studio😂

did you do all that to your vital preset pack?
@psybursonic Жыл бұрын
Yes, I got the patches as close to “mix ready” as possible within the Vital framework. But context is everything and will vary from song to song of course, so you may need to do some mixing to suite your track.

@@psybursonic I already bought the pack anyway 😂 will hit you up for a lesson, I want to learn from the master :D
