Why wasn't Restless natives not released as a single but a bside to look away
@timj413 жыл бұрын
Great question, that’s the first time I heard it when I bought the single , I found I actually liked it more than the A side

This should have been released as an album.

There's never been a band that melded rocking tunes to arty lyrics, except The Skids. And they were teenagers when they wrote this ! Amazing !

I know you uploaded this 11 years ago but can I just thank you for doing so, I've been a big country fan since the age of 8 (I'm 24 now) and I genuinely think this would serve better as our national anthem.

I really can't understand that German soldier pic as "the ad" for the song. Alex Harvey would, maybe, have chosen a Scottish soldier pic. A little difference, in their aims during WWII, or am I wrong?

Hi there, Yes you make a good point, when i put the thing together i was pretty green at this (still am as i haven’t done any more) and didn’t really put much thought into which image would come first on the thumbnail. I quite agree with you, when I get some time I will try to change this. Thanks for pointing it out. Cheers,

Great song, great album (got it in vynil!), and Maestro Stuart Adamson's guitar, what to say? Here, he's litterally ROARING, with his guitar!! He deserves a statue in Dumferline, like Walter Scott's in Edimburgh (I saw it... ) Cheers from Italy PS: how is thar favourite bird of mine,,the Famous Groose? We spent some pleasant time...ehr..."reasoning together", in Summer '82 ;-)

Who fed you to the lions? When hanging from a tree It's a case of melancholy There's no tourists at the sea Twelve saw decaying monuments While marching on attack Eleven watched a single Thus continued on the march Oh, oh Pin point toward horizon Convalescent to the last A moment lost of imagery The last word to the cast Won't you listen to the danger? I can't listen any more Oh, oh This, oh, oh oh This, oh, oh oh This, to march along This, on indwelt seed image: static.urx.io/units/web/urx-unit-loader.gif This is a panorama This is a soldier's creed From this came a stranger All the marching seemed to halt From this came a moment Then the march led to assault The dwellers took position While commanding genocide The enemy were helpless And there's lots more besides Oh, oh This, to march along This, on indwelt seed This is a panorama This is a soldier's creed This, oh, oh oh This, oh, oh oh

I saw Big Country in 1983 when I was 14 and it changed my life. It made me learn to play electric guitar and now I have my own band...I have been listening to songs like "Porrohman" and "1,000 Stars" and there is something about them that never gets old, something so powerful and original and raw in its beauty. They were a rock band like no other. I saw them again in 2014 with Mike as lead singer and Jaime Watson- I got to meet all of those guys and they were as down to earth as you can imagine, really, really great, nice guys.

No-no. That is a compliment to your father. 'Stay in his wake' means follow in his footsteps. Guess I should have just said that. No worries! be well!!!!!

So was I! (Although I didn't really buy it, it 'bought' it off iTunes. You don't get good music like this in the shops anymore. In the Inverness branch of HMV, there is a small section of the shop for Scottish music, but they only have ONE Big Country album (The Seer)).
@QuietBatperson9611 жыл бұрын
Same here. It has a almost punk feel to it, without being punk. I just like the sound.

Big Country made excellent B-sides. "Winter Sky" (B-side to "Just a Shadow") is another good example.

It is my favorite song bar none. What I meant to convey was Just a Shadow was not mainstream. BG should have been much more popular than they ever were....but I kind of like it that way. Every song they put out was simply awesome. Only group that elicited a emotional response on each and every song.
@QuietBatperson9611 жыл бұрын
