I saw Big Country in 1983 when I was 14 and it changed my life. It made me learn to play electric guitar and now I have my own band...I have been listening to songs like "Porrohman" and "1,000 Stars" and there is something about them that never gets old, something so powerful and original and raw in its beauty. They were a rock band like no other. I saw them again in 2014 with Mike as lead singer and Jaime Watson- I got to meet all of those guys and they were as down to earth as you can imagine, really, really great, nice guys.

thanks for this, I have been watching interviews with Stuart and the BC Country club convention. I just received my copy of without a safety net to add to my collection. He was a hell of a nice guy and it's such a tragedy that he had such trouble in his life. I didnt know much about him until the past two years through youtube, I have been a fan of the skids since 78 when scared to dance came out and have always known he was an underated genius.huge loss

fair enough man, I did this in a real hurry which doesnt give the man the respect he deserves so apologies to all. Been reading up about his preferred guitar in the late 70's and early 80's the Yamaha SG2000 which like him is grossly underated, check out the santana clip of europa and he uses an SG2000 to get what some tubers describe as "like 5minutes of sustain; cheers,
