Why would you take some needle nose pliers to turn the piston in on the electric brake motor and just put the car in brake service mode which retracts the gear in the electronic motor? Then you can just push the piston back in. You did it the hard way.

Good luck!!! Hope it still works!! I bought the same one in October of 2022. Put an hour meter on it, and have used it for 1.1 hours, and it threw a rod. 😢

Just a suggestion, if you remove the fill level plug it will vent that way while refilling. Also you’ll know when it’s full and not waste expensive fluid. It’s faster filling and you won’t have fluid splashing back at you and all over the car. Or just back the funnel out a smidge so it can draw air from around the neck of the funnel.
@vettle111 күн бұрын
You should still drive it and then check because the fluid expands as it heats

My 44 Willys mb had the rear fenders reshape by a chubby owner but your is a bit neater than mine ,it was cut and welded and reshaped with a large hammer ,I’m going to replace both of them with new ones. I’ve enjoyed your rebuild videos thanks from Scotland

Greetings! Those rear fenders and driving position was certainly meant for smaller drivers when they were first produced. I can see why many made the adjustment. Good luck with your repairs!

Al did you have to disengage the brake system and the abs. my fusion is electronic braking system
@AlsGarageRestorations15 күн бұрын
I might recommend disconnecting the battery, but I otherwise didn’t disconnect anything. I just made sure the master cylinder reservoir cap was off, which allowed for the fluid to got back into that area once the caliper piston is compressed.

Those waxes do not provide up to a year of protection. You can tell if the wax is actually still there when you wash the car. If the water is flat and not beading, then theres no more protection left on the car. DO NOT apply this once a year and forget about it. The turtle wax super hard shell wax is at max offers a couple of months of durability depending weather conditions and whether the car is parked inside or outside.

According to the service manual it says to throw away the caliper bracket bolts and get new ones. Nobody seems to do it. Not sure why it says that.. also for fusion sport 2.7L models I'm told a 11mm hex socket is needed on the fronts.
@AlsGarageRestorations15 күн бұрын
I didn’t replace caliper bolts and its ran fine, but I think they suggest it based on the stress these bolts are under and the tightness these have to be at. Multiple tightens through multiple jobs can potentially shear them off.

Great video!!! A lot of good information. I just did my brakes and my new front pads did not have any adhesive. I got a slight clunk noise a few times when I tested them I bet that the issue, the pad is loose.
@kevinconejo93613 күн бұрын
Mine don’t have adhesive either and there’s a weird noice when I break and it doesn’t break too good, what did you use to stick the pad to the caliper?
