Hey bud, just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos and it's always great to find another Type R enthusiast that resides in Thailand as well. Btw, I was quite horrified to find out recently that most of the FD2Rs on Facebook marketplace have been welded back together from halfcuts imported from Japan. It's so crazy my brain is still trying to ratioanlise it. I was hoping to get your advice on how to find a genuine FD2R in Bangkok and how do you make sure it's not from a halfcut? Is it advisable to just import an FD2R from Singapore (since there's so many there)?
@FizzyMotors16 күн бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment! Actually you are wrong about that. Most of the FD2s here are not welded half cut cars lol., as that would he highly illegal. They are in fact what we call swapped cars. The import half cut cars from japan and then swap everything over to a donor chassis of an FD1. In fact i am not afraid to admit that my car is also a swapped car. This is only because a genuine fd2 is like a unicorn here. I have only ever seen one at a track day, and they owner refuses to sell it. In addition the price of a genuine one would be over 2 million baht which in my opinion is absurd for a car like this. So the question is, can a swapped car be as good as a genuine one? I guess my answer is probably not. But depending on how skilllfully swapped the car is, it may become near indiscernible (in terms of driven) from the real thing. You cant really import cars into thailand. They do not allow importation of old cars. They used to, but now it’s banned. That is why the prices here are kind of ridiculous. There are rumors that starting next year they will allow classic cars over 30 years to be imported at 100% tax, but its not fully official yet.
@JangoMando16 күн бұрын
@@FizzyMotors Ah...thanks for clearing it up bud! I actualy got the idea they were halfcuts is because the seller admitted it on his posting. Maybe Google translate messed it up. I saw a supposedly genuine FD2R on FB for 1.6mb! The listing was gone in less than 24 hours. Yes, I have a hard time understanding why certain cars are more expensive here. Case in point, the MX-5s and the S2000s. It's a shame that cars can't be imported here. 30 years is still a long time though. I don't think I can wait that long for a FD2R. 😄
@FizzyMotors16 күн бұрын
@JangoMando Wow 1.6mb is not too bad at all. Considering I paid around 1 mil for mine ( i bought it during the peak) I have my eyes on importing an NSX when the import law is confirmed.

@Summer0fLove196729 күн бұрын
This is just so serene to experience. You encapsulated what makes the W126 Chassis special. What used to make Mercedes. A MERCEDES. I might be an old soul, but I just think we all here know exactly what TRUE CLASS is. Not this modern Screen and plastic slop that's thrown in luxury cars now a days.
Impressive video review of the W126. everything about it fits the car, elegance, laid-back, and easy on the eyes and the ears. The narration was great, you pulled me into the car for the ride. This is luxury at it's best, with good proportion, good placement of switches and layouts. Not one LED light, or strange body panel fitment, or silly electronics that distract the driver from the road. I understand as I recently drove a 126-SEL and almost bought it, but decided it was really too large for my needs. IF some gave me a new S-Class, I would have it up for sale so fast it would make your head spin, and the next step would be to step back in time and find a jewel like this. Keep up the great work!

Awesome to see what you guys did for this under supported chassis. Are you guys able to offer the machined parts like the adapter for Mitsubishi cam/crank sensor, the coil bracket and the part number of the coils? If so, who do I contact? This could really be good for these cars to become more modern. Thanks

The looks I get as a young person driving a car that is more than twice the age are also priceless. And you can also have some fun woth it in the snow and dirt parking lots. All in all a very good and comfortable car

I’ve had 2 911s and currently have a Vantage. It all depends on your definition of “better”. At the end of the day, even my Turbo felt like an appliance, whereas driving the Aston is an event every time, and it is for me what you chaps call my “daily driver”. But. If I had to travel 250 miles in a hurry on a winter’s day, I’d want my Porsche back…… Horses for courses.

Yea I am aware that I am very biased lol. Having said that, I agree that the new 911s (starting from 991) have been very boring unless youre driving a GT car. I still much prefer the 996/997 or aircooled cars of the past.

Have to addres that better person -phrase. Once drove 126, and but was i bit nervous or maybe more like charged at first, on a foreign car, yet other hand, had warm feeling. I saw a long hood with star on top, a new experience. You do not see a hood out of car seat nowdays them are so tilted like windscreen extension or shit like that. Forget what you have taught or you think about driving all about. Just relax and let the star on hood quide you and engine whispers you instructions. And, I did, and suddenly saw a traffic kind out of a new perspective. It was not a race who gets a longer stick, more like a sailing, watch the wind and tidal waves, and feel the flow lead to conform those elements. So, was I better human, on that trip. Well...yes, it was presented out as a better driver.
