They are not knock sensors, but one is for crankshaft position, and the other is for engine rotation speed.

yea, but I also read that the early 944 had knock sensors. but not sure about it

You can swap discs all day, but... Pop the vaccum hose out of the brake booster and stick something in there to check if the master cylinder leaks into it.

Excellent video. I bought a 968 but am tempted by an early 944. The 924s is probably another one to get. 944 engine but lighter and skinnier tyres. Might have a looser rear end

I have since figured out why the rear of the car was so hard to step out. This car is running 205 front and 245 rear tires which are not the correct tire size for this model. The correct tire size should be a square stance of 215 front and rear. I believe with this tire size the car will feel much more alive near the limit

there's quite a few non-standard, performance orientated parts on the car. Check the sway bars, rear torsion bars and front springs. You might have mismatched suspension setup inducing understeer.

You are right, it's snappier w. 215 on all 4. You feel it more on the steering, than on rear traction. And you can swap them around. The later turbo's had wider tires, though.

Clutches in 944's are very high, even with brand new clutches.

I have a standalone conversion on my '83 944 (Megasquirt) and it is worth it. However, not a plug and play project.

@@FizzyMotors Reliability, and easy to tune unlike the stock Motronic. In the US models, the stock tune is really soggy due to fuel standards at the time. Can you get a chip? Sure (with 85.5+ DME swap) but you still have the old Bosch environment of primitive EFI. I have modern injectors, LS series ignition coils per cylinder, wideband O2 closed loop EGO, etc etc. Picked up torque everywhere. Tuned speed density (MAP) with a blank tube in place of the airflow meter.

@@MichaelODonnell awesome That’s basically the same to-do list for me. But instead using LS parts here in thailand we use JDM parts like Supra coils, Evo TPS, etc. lol. Have you ever experimented with aftermarket cams on these engines?
