A bit late to the party but I definitely think you should do a Ganesy. Living in Cornwall you need that on your bucket list so cast on and begin. Best of luck 🤞

So many exciting developments for you, Stitches & Cream, and the Flock…you’ve been busy Jane! My vote for your Christmas cast on goes to the Spot Sweater as it sounds like less of a ‘should be knitting’ project for you. Whatever you choose, I hope you enjoy every stitch ❤

I would love to watch someone’s progress with the Spot Sweater. I’ve been thinking about that one for a while. May I ask if Nikki ever completed the Watch Cap pattern? During your special birthday celebration I ordered the yarn. I would love to knit them for my son’s family. Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year!

Lovely podcast Jane ❤. I also suffer with social anxiety and congratulate you on delivering a wonderful and varied podcast, thank you. I would knit the spot jumper, colours are nice and bright for drab winter months, taps into your joy of colour work as well. It's a knit to cheer you up as you will be having an empty nest and a new type of Christmas this year. The gansey will take a long time and to my mind, best cast on in summer months and it's one colour! Have a wonderful Xmas, and a Happy and healthy 2025. xx

Thank you Susan 🥰 my thoughts are to do both but change the gansey colour to a brighter one and think of it as a year long project 😊

Oh I do love your podcasts Jane, 💕I chuckled out loudly when you mentioned the neck situation, I like you need that something around my neck at all times. Love love love your Festive socks 🧦 I’d personally start the spotty sweater, I think I’d get fed up with the length of time the Gansey would take! Wishing you & all your lovely staff a very Merry Christmas & a Peaceful New Year xx

I love the idea of going out for Christmas Dinner ! Our kids and grandson are coming on December 21st for Christmas 🎄 So just the two of us on Christmas! We live in a small town though and nothing but the gas stations are open that day ! So I bought a small ham and will make roast potatoes and salad ! Oh well at least I can knit all day and Boxing Day too ! I think I might cast on either the Oslo has or the Musselbourgh hat ! Sorry I know I spelt the second one wrong !

Hi Jane! I love your sweater and your cowl, actually, I love everything you showed on your podcast. Those socks are marvelous, I really want to give them a go. I would definitely choose gansey in answer to your dilemma as to which to cast on. I have always always wanted to start to knit my first gansey but I am very intimidated by it. I have the book by Beth Brown-Reinsel and I feel, as much as it seems packed with info, I would really like to be in a group or at the very least watching someone and their progress with a gansey. I have had the yarn and been ready to go but I am nervous. I think you would do awesome with one though and if I were you that is what I would choose! Thank you for your lovely podcast. ❤

Hello dear Jane- thank you for a lovely chat- I love all your project possibilities but if you’ve always wanted to make a gansey then go for it! If you’ve always wanted look at it as an heirloom and a long term project ( interspersed with simpler ones) it could be good 😊 I personally love the denim blue and I love Blacker Yarns ❤ I’ve just posted off the Porthallow hat and mitts to my darling daughter who’s working in Manchester for a year- so I bought the yarn from John Arbon and had it flown all the way to Tasmania and now it’s flying all the way back - I feel a bit guilty! I was thrilled with how the pattern turned out and need to thank you as I wouldn’t have known about it if not for you. I love the book you shared too- I’ve already looked it up and it’s in stock at my local bookshop 😊 wishing you a peaceful lead up to Christmas 🎄

A gansey will be fabulous. So much history and tradition to contemplate while knitting it. I'm quite looking forward to this Christmas, it'll be the first year I don't have the family coming round, we're all going to a restaurant the week before, so I can have a complete Christmas off. Watching the film's all the way through without peeling sprouts at the same time.😹💕 I also have a Christmas cast on that's just for me! I'm about to cast on a musslebrough hat in candy cane forest by bird street yarn💗 I can't wait! 🎄

Thank you. Not convinced about the colour yet but a gansey is on the cards for sure. ☺️
@karenwashburn82918 күн бұрын
Your two sweater choices are very very different. My question to you, which one would you be more likely to frequently wear. Knit that one first. You could knit the other sweater over a longer period of time, such as 2 hours per week. Chip away at knitting it, eventually it will be completed. So, my vote is Spot, as your first knit. 🧶
@thecornishknitter18 күн бұрын
Good question! And great advice too. My inclination is to cast both on. One a shorter project and the gansey a slow and long one. Thank you ☺️

Hi Jane, lovely podcast, thank you. I do wish I lived in Cornwall so I capsule call Stitches and Cream my LYS 😂 and attend one of the lovely retreats you offer. But anyway if you have always wanted a Gansey and you know you will wear it, then I think you should cast on. I would prefer a winter coat as my outer layer but then I live in NZ not the UK. I suppose it depends on what style you are after. I’m in the kitchen on Xmas day as everyone always comes to us, 27 family members this year, that may change one day! But this year I’m going to try and do a Xmas cast on, not sure what though!

Thanks for great episode have missed some of your episodes do catching up. I’ve only been to Rheinback once but one thing I can say is you should book rooms now if you can. Another wonderful episode. I look forward to seeing the beautiful range of yarns you show as well as your current and future projects. I knitted a guernsey/gansey just under a year ago now using the Frangipani yarn from Caroline. It was my first time of knitting one and I recorded my journey ( Whitby Guernsey Knit). I recommend you purchasing the extra long needles to accommodate the stitches easily although I was knitting a large size. Thankyou and happy knitting from Whitby, North Yorkshire .😊

I think that you should cast on both sweaters. You would then have the option of colour when you feel the need to be cheered and the Ganesh when you just want to sit and knit repetitive stitches. Remember knitting should be relaxing and a joy, it is not a race so it doesn’t matter how long the gansey takes you. Have a fantastic festive season.

I think Gansey’s should be a darker blue as Aran’s should be cream in my mind. My mum used to knit them for our local fisherfolk, probably where I got my love of knitting from. Are you really in need of such a dense garment which is going to take such a long time or could you do a more modern, wearable version with just echos of what they traditionally are? That little bag is a delight though. Have a good Christmas. 🎄
@thecornishknitter19 күн бұрын
Thank you. I know it’s traditional for navy but I am also thinking about my eyesight 🤓🤣 the joy of getting older! I do love the navy but I am going to change to another brighter colour I think. It’s taken me so long to actually do it I am going to opt for a traditional method. 🥰
