I just wanna say I have replayed this video for what feels like hundreds of times and I’ve learned so much from it and it really helped me on my basement stair project. It was such a unique situation where I had to put the newel post on the corner of the stair same way that you did and it worked out. Thank you so much. This video saved me hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

Nice work. Hope your back heals. Man, once the back starts to hurt, it seems like other things start to flare up. I too will buy a grizzly mobile base for my floor drill press. Thanks for the video. 👍🏽🤠 07/22/24

Here in the Dominican Republic they sell that fan and there are people who put a lamp on that fan and I think they make a hole in it so that the thread of the lamp burns to screw it into the fan, although the best-selling brand is the KDK, that model from Westinhouse, the Nikel model, very exclusive to see here in the DR since what you see most of the Westinhouse brand are the short-lasting ones, that is, the ones with wooden blades but the ones with steel blades, it is exclusive to see it now that people prefer KDK over westinhouse nikel

Shouldn't 35" be from the very front of tread and not the back of the newel?

That place is very large. I could totally do something like that. Mine would have to be accessible, but other than that, it's cool. 👍

Usually the front baluster on each tread lines up vertically with the front of the riser below it.

Amazing video..never seen anyone take out a section of stairs to put in a new one with open treads. Looks so much better and way much more room. I learned a few good tips from you from this. Thank you. I’ve been doing interior trim 23 years about 12 of that doing stairs and you could never know too much to learn something new. Someone showed me a year and a half ago something that blew my mind.. he showed me that you can set newel post with Bondo. You still set your blocks but instead of having to screw from behind or in front and have to plug them you mix up a bunch of Bondo put it in your new post around all the edges a lot and then slide it over your blocks.tack a couple sticks to hold it plumb both ways and when the Bondo dries, it is as strong or stronger than screws I think that would have worked great in your situation where you didn’t want to plug holes in a finished painted newel Or have to screw from behind in awkward areas. Maybe you could try it sometime but your project looked amazing. Thanks for the video.

FYI. Most of the "construction screws" at the big box stores are not rated for framing and other types of construction.

Thank you for sharing your workmanship with us students. I’m 74 years old this Dec.2023 and for the love of me watching you ….The tone in your voice as you tackle through the problems. I would get so disappointed with my helpers that if one would only take a few moments that hours of frustration would be a thing of the past. It’s a shame that the way we were taught has almost disappeared. If a job is worth doing , it’s a job worth doing right…. Thank you, Student Bob
