Hi mate that’s great explanation. My new render has gone all the way to the floor and I’ve noticed it stays wet after heavy rain. How can I sort this now? Cut out the render to just above the damp and silicone on a drip bead? Cheers

Why are all plasters like this? Coming from a labor enough will never be enough for you guys it’s always about you guys. What about the labors slaving for you guys.

I do love the render pump. A particular frustration I have with the pump is the gear in the hose going hard and blocking almost immediately after stopping spraying for just a few minutes. The issue being, if I spray an area and want to stop to rule it off, the gear has hardened in the hose and / gun causing a blockage and then requires a full clean. Have you ever had this issue? Do you have any advice on how to prevent this or is it just a case of spraying all in 1 go until all the gear has been used up?

8.5k is more than a fair price. external systems aint cheap.. I think more often than not pepole don't fully understand its the materials & preparation that pushes the price up. Many think: he can just slap a few coates on, hey Presto super smooth walls & ceilings ect..older the builder more systems & techniques involved Lost count of the amount of clients ive needed to work around and politely explain things too. Plastering is fast becoming a race to the bottom. Due to websites like Checka.T My.B... They don't care about quality, its about volume profits, Their Absolute parasites. All the very best fella 🍻

If a customer says to me that’s expensive , I say I’m not expensive at all I’m reasonable, (which I am) I then tell them to get another 3 quotes and tell me how much they are ! Clients are fickle don’t ever barter your prices and suffer , they always say this to get you down and it brings bad vibes from the get go so always have the clients bang to rights straight away

I'm 56 and pretty handy, learned a lot from my Dad and my wife's dad who were both builders which has been a huge benefit to us over the years. Its been several years since I needed to do any building work and I was shocked how much material and labour costs have risen since then so I can well understand how people of a similar age that might have to rely on the trades but may not have had any work done for several years would be out of touch and shocked how much jobs can costs these days.

First thing I check is the value of the property. It costs the same per m2 to render a 100k house or a 1 million pound house. The owners of a 100k house would never pay close to 10% of the value of their house for rendering say 100m2 whereas the owners of a million pound house would more likely pay 30k to render 300m2 as it would add more than that to the house value. Just my experience!
