My parents bought my brother and I a Z50 in 1977. What a great bike. We ran the hell out of that thing. Very dependable. Never had an issue with it.

You keep the Goat and turn it over later to your kid there, cool Dad. I had a good friend who owned that model (1st year '64 in black). He ran 60s tires on the back, 4 barrel carb, and Muncie trans. It was his daily driver in high school (73-75). His gear set probably was in the 3.23 range because one night we went 140. Yes, the telephone poles looked like a picket fence . In fact. Dennis L. of Woodstock, Connecticut,once buried the 140 mph speedometer and snapped the cable. When he brought it to the shop to buy another cable, they asked him how' he broke it. Dennis told them he was "just driving along." Dennis was a good man, friend and driver. Sadly we lost him in his early twenties. 'Hearing that transmission whine and seeing that gunmetal dash really brought it all back. Thank you.

Verry nice restoration! I have been the proud owner of my Suzuki T 125 Stiner from 1971 since 1975. Since 1984 the machine stood in my mother's garage for over 30 years until a friend of mine brought the Suzuki back to life. It runs well up to 4000 revolutions, but unfortunately it doesn't go beyond that. Unfortunately we are missing some parts on the carburettor. These are, on the one hand, two pilot jets (part number 28 of the carburettor illustration) and, on the other hand, the lower cover of the float chamber (a part is missing). Do any of you have the parts described above or know where you can buy them? Many thanks for your help!

They say the 64 GTO is the 1st muscle car do to its engine power & mostly its weight. It made 348 HP & 428 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 in 5.7 seconds. It weighed 3,500 lbs. The 62 Impala 409 made 360 hp and 409 lb-ft of torque & weighed 3,500 lbs. 0-60 6.3 seconds. They are close. So there is the question. Why isn't the 62 Impala considered the 1st muscle car??? Love both. Just trying to get edjumacated!

This was a beautiful piece of machinery. I rode one of these in 1973. The bike model is correctly LS2. At the time there was no such series as the RD. These came in years later. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
@uni-byte2 жыл бұрын
The nomenclature "RD" was not used by Yamaha until 1973. The first RDs were the 350, 250 and 125 The RD 200 came in 1974 and was an electric start (god only knows why a 200 2-T would need an electric start) and then smaller RDs followed. That's an LS2, not an RD 100. I had both the LS2 and later the RD 125. My RD 125 was a 1975 version and my LS2 was just like this one - 1972 - both which I bought new.
@ramishrambarran39982 жыл бұрын
You are correct about the designation RD. The YCS1 was 180cc as well as the CS2. The CS2 evolved into the CS3 as a 200cc. The evolution continued into the RD 200 in 1974, and the final in 1978. All were electric start motorcycles. The crankshaft mounted armature of the starter functioned as a generator once the engine was started. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.

I'm a BIG fan of Cameo Ivory paint on '64 GTO's, they're especially intimidating in code 'C' paint! I suppose it's the connection that Cameo Ivory has w/Arnie The Farmer's "White Tornado"! I was 16 when the GTO was introduced in Sept. of '63. The guy who I bought my Milw. Journal route from had a black post coupe. When you looked under his GTO what caught your eye were the 2 massive slicks crammed inside the wells, & the differential looked like a small "period" between those huge meats! I never heard or saw his GTO run @ Union Grove Dragaway but it looked plenty scary in the garage as I walked up the driveway to deliver his Journal. My friend the owner went on to serve in the AF who flew the Douglas A1-E Skyraider in Vietnam. When I became a Marine a bit later, my time in 'Nam was '68 & '69. .

After 1970 Honda due to emissions restrictions in u.s. had to place more restrictive exhaust and detune the 750cc series due to emission requirements that slowed down the bike.
@geryloftis79853 жыл бұрын
A great motorcycle, fast and comfortable. That bike could beat any anything on the street. I pulled the exhaust baffles out of pipes it was comparable to straight headers, great sound and power boost. Completely stock I could beat anything on the street at that time until Kawasaki came out with the 900cc Kawasaki which was like a rocket.
