Thanks for the informative video. Is it possible to use this with a Roland SPD SX drums as a kick & hihat pedal?

I'm bored at work, so I'll share my setup. I use both UP and DOWN pedals to turn some effects on and off, so technically I have all three pedals controlling the same patch. That way I avoid the gap that appears when switching between patches and I also enjoy the benefit of the Delay tail still being heard when I go from Drive to Clean. Also, I use the Expression pedal to reduce or add OD gain, depending on the parts of the song. So, here it is: DOWN: Phaser (quite mild, just to season the sound a bit) UP: OD On / Off CTL1: OD Solo, Delay (level +20 through Assign 1) EXP1: Drive Gain 15 (min) to 50 (max) Chorus, Preamp, Delay, and Reverb are active the entire time. I set the Chorus to Stereo through the EASY setup buttons located at the top left corner of the Boss GT-1, but I reduce the Rate to 30. Also, I choose the Slapback Delay that way, but I don't alter any parameters for the Clean and Rhythm sounds. The Preamp is set to Natural Clean, and Reverb to Plate. This way, I have everything I need in just one patch. I have 2 different Clean sounds (the Chorusy one, which I get when I turn off the OD, and the Dirty one, which I get when I press back the Expression pedal with the OD still on). I don't normally use the Wah because I'm too old to stand on one foot while rocking the other. :) OK, back to work now... :)

How do you program the exp1 pedal to control the looper playback volume?

Can you program the expression pedal to control the volume of the looper playback? i.e. As the looper plays back I want to slowly fade the volume of it for the end of a song

I notice some of my patches are lower volume then others. To make them similar is it best to use master or foot volume which is after pre amp?
@GuitarNTabs7 күн бұрын
Hi, Thank you for your comment and question, I greatly appreciate it. This is actually a broad and quite complex topic, and it's often asked in regards to multi effects pedals... The best way is to make sure all effects are level with each other, within the signal chain. The optimal way to achieve this would be to make a "target patch" which you can copy, where all effects/preamps are leveled. The way to do it, would be to take a patch, initialize it, so no effect is activated. If you use your owm amplifier with the GT-1, then turn off the GT-1's PREAMP section, and set the proper level on your own amplifier. This level will be the target you level the remaining effects to, if that makes sense... If you use the GT-1's onboard preamp models, then select a clean preamp, like the Clean Twin or Natural Clean, and dial it in, so it sounds like you want it to. Then make sure its level is strong and proper. Again, level the remaining effects to this. For example, take the OD/DS section, select an OD/DS of your choice, and turn it on, then off, and listen for any drop or increase in volume. If you notice any, then ALWAYS use the dedicated effects' level parameter. Effects like overdrive, distortion, compressors, etc. will add gain to your signal chain, so be sure to level those out, like I mentioned above. Some modulation effects can do this too, so always check each effect you want to add. This would roughly be the process... I know it sounds like a lot, but it really isn't, once you get a hang of it, and it will make your patches sound so much better and cleaner. I hope this helps. Best regards.

@GuitarNTabs Thanks , that is a mouthful for sure. I don't know if this is right but what I figure out to do was go to the preamp section and just turn the level up or the gain up until itmatches the memory banks next to it.. if I noticed any change in Distortion I just turn down the gain on those. I don't know if this is the right way but at least I got a louder response, and I go straight into my PA. I do use the preamps

Well hello, I’m a bit late to the gt-1 party. It’s 2024 and the new Boss GX-10 was released and it’s very nice. I am wondering if this is a replacement for the gt1 and if the pedals and software operate similarly. I love the channel and many tutorials. Thank you
@GuitarNTabs17 күн бұрын
Hi, Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it. I don't know if it's an actual replacement for the GT-1, but perhaps more of an upgrade. The effects, preamp and cab options are newer and upgraded, the AIRD preamps. The GX-10 surely caught my eye, and I might try to get one, at some point. Come to think of it, the GX-10 is rather a down-scaled GX-100, like the GT-1 was a down-scaled GT-100. Let me know if you need anything else. Best regards.

Hey you answered my question, thank you. I am a home player and I use an old pod 2.0 red bean thing. I have been watching lots about new technology but it’s all very expensive. I like your tutorials as you are the GT-1 whisperer. It is small, it has battery option, it has aux input and it sounds great to me. Take care and thank you. Here in the States the GX100 is 499$ and the gx10 is 399$ so they are expensive. 🙏

This is a very great video, man. You are absolutely master, your explanations that slowly but actualy made it easily for me to understand how to operate this elusive pedal... But I have one more question, if I use my frfr for output the pedal, should I choose the output setting is line or combo amp, etc?
@GuitarNTabs17 күн бұрын
Hi, Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it. For the FRFR-speaker you should select the Line/Phones Output Select, and make sure to turn on the GT-1's PREAMP section. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. Best regards.

Hi, I just ordered a new GT1000 Core. I download every video you have on it. Thank you for deep dives on it, helps a lot. I was using a couple 25 yr old GT-Pros since new. I was due for a upgrade. The new GX stuff, not many videos on that one, the GT1000 seems to be better in a home recording setup. Be well, thank you.

Hi, Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it. You're going to love the GT1000 Core, I surely did! Funny you mention it, I still have an old GT-PRO, which I bought many years ago, but I keep coming back to it, because there's something about its preamps and effects. I dig it! I'm sure you'll do just fine with the Core! Enjoy it! Best regards.

I want to remove mine on my kramer baretta and fit a locking nut to keep it in tune, would it work?
@GuitarNTabs17 күн бұрын
Hi, Hmm, that's a big question, since I don't know your guitar, its problems, etc. etc. I would check the original nut, and make sure it's not binding, causing the strings to go sharp/flat. Or, have a pro look at it. Installing a locking nut require some tools, and it's not a drop-in replacement. I hope this helps. Best regards.

@GuitarNTabs17 күн бұрын
Hi, You simply plug your headphones into the "Phones" socket. Then make sure to set the GT-1's Output Select to Line/Phones, and enable the GT-1's PREAMP section. That should do it. I hope this helps. Cheers.

Suppose you apply your liveset to the boss gt1. Now how do you undo that. I mean undo the 'apply liveset' and return to the original patches which were on the gt1.

Hi there, I really appreciate your videos thankyou but I still am having a problem assigning a boost for solo's to my CTL1 switch on a patch. I followed your instructions and it works fine - until I turn the GT-1 off, then when I go to use it next I find the assign for the CTL1 switch hasn't been saved and it reverts back to its default for the patch?

very cool comparison - I have used GT1 for years and was considering GT1000 Core... from this demo, I may not continue this pursuit, as the GT1 sounded better in every instance IMO - of course play feel is an intangible that you cannot observe in a video. but the GT1 recorded sounds were more convincing to my ear, and the GT1000 tones were less natural sounding. Note that I am a Kemper user, and neither of these items operate at that level, but the GT1 is the perfect fly rig/grab'n'go unit...

Hi , I see my gt1 as you show in the video . Quick question the volume on the clean is good but when I turn on the ctl1 the rise in volume is too great . I I tried reducing the volume on the distorted sound . What that does is also reduce the clean . Basically I want the clean a nice volume and when I switch the os /ds not to be over whelming . How do I do that and save it . ?

I have watched this video over and over. I have checked my settings again and again, but all the control switch does is turn the effect on and off. All I want to do is switch the limiter level from 25 to 65, it just will not work.I tried controlling something else but again all I get is on and off. It's driving me crazy.

Who has the time to do all this setting up? I’d pick the Boss ME series over the GT series.
@GuitarNTabs2 ай бұрын
Hi, To be honest, if you're serious about your tone, and the way you set up patches, then you'll want to spend that extra time, it's well worth it. I would surely pick the GT series over the ME, that's for sure. Assign options, different signal chains, etc. the list is long. But hey, that's all personal preference. I just know that I wouldn't trade my GT-1 for any other MFX pedal. Have a great day.
