Nice job, I’ve been wanting to do this on my yj, you have given me some ideas and your execution and attention to detail gave you quality results. I like the fact that the supports are all independent of each other and the top frame secures it all together thru the triangular plates. Good idea. Great video 🤙🏻
@WheelinWithWally23 күн бұрын
@@jeeperguy4290 Thank you! I'm glad you got some inspiration from the video. The rack is still going strong with no issue that I've noticed. I've driven it from Ohio to Colorado, Utah, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina while doing trails. Sometimes with the tent on and sometimes without it. No issues.

I recently realized my backup lights weren't working and when I checked under the car, I saw the previous owner had just left the switch unplugged from the harness. I plugged it and and voila, lights came on. Except now the stay on all the time. Don't need reverse lights to pass the state safety inspection so I guess leaving them dead was easier than replacing the switch. I'd like to have reverse lights now and that dang switch is $46 bucks for the YJ. I'm wondering if there's any chance I can pop it off, clean it up, and pop it back in but from what I've read, the YJ starts leaking out fluid immediately once that switch is out so I don't have the logistics of this figured out just yet.
@WheelinWithWallyАй бұрын
@@mascatrails661 honestly I'd just buy a new one if possible. You might be able to clean it but no guarantees. I've never owned a YJ so I'm unfamiliar with their setup but depending on where the switch is you could jack the jeep up on that side to make all the fluid pool away from the opening.

Great series that's going to help me a lot since I have to do the exact same repair on my 03 TJ. I have a couple of question. How is the jeep holding up? Have any of the welds snapped because of the flex or hits? And would you do anything differently during your fix now that two years have gone by?
@WheelinWithWallyАй бұрын
@@kianpashapour5906 as far as I can tell everything is still great. I haven't noticed any issues with the welds from wheeling it. If I could go back I'd probably go ahead and replace the passenger side rear floor board and torque box too. All in all I'm pretty happy with how it all worked out and have no known issues from it.

Appreciate the video! My transfer case is clunking really bad, especially in 4-Lo, so I have a spare that's supposedly a good take out. I just have to crack open the spare and check it but also have to swap the SYE from the current one to the spare and I got a new chain coming so I'm going to install that as well. I heard removing the center console inside and going through the inspection plate of the body makes it easier to get to those top bolts on the transfer case.
