For 210k, you'd expect something more than a Baja kits bolt on kit and a rear coilover that doesn't have the spring 1/2 way down the body. The travel numbers are comparable to a 35" tire gen 3, which is a good baseline. Overall, if you have 210k before tax burning a hole in your investment account and you want one of 500 trucks, then it's a good buy. For anyone else, take any platform to a fabricator and get a solid 4wd cadged truck for that money.

Good eye on the shocks. I agree man. The price is crazy high just in the name of exclusivity. For the same money you can have HM build you a fully caged prerunner

I don’t know. A lot of hate in the comments but buying a 65/75k truck then buying 40k in parts(glass, bumpers, live valve fox shocks, billet links, bumps, slappers arms, LCA and UCA, gusseted/ double sheared, cross over brace, supercharger, electronics, lights) then having all the labor, paint, shock tuning, engine tuning all done for you. And looks factory no gaps, no empty spaces. Might not be $200k but it’s not far off. Just finance and go have fun. I like it. I wish I was part of that middle class to afford it.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad6 ай бұрын
There is a lot to like here. The main thing that sucks is the price. I think this is a $120-140k build max with everything at low production numbers like they are doing here. And it’s basically on par with a Raptor R, BUT with a peppier engine. That 6.2 is awesome and power on demand was crazy. But the biggest thing I hated, was nothing that Fox did. Build quality of the GM truck is nowhere near as good as Ford. The door rattling on the ride along was crazy and very loud.

The only thing I took away that is actually beneficial is the sealed joints so no greasing (dirt/mud state). Idk if they perform to the same standard as far as articulation and durability. But I actually appreciate it.

@automotiveandmore6 ай бұрын
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad yeah you can get the LZ0 3.0L Duramax in 1500 GM trucks. I have the older LM2 on my 21 AT4, and it's an amazing engine offroad with an amazing range per tank and a ton of torque. Don't plan on going back to a V8 gasser as long as this is an option.
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad6 ай бұрын
Really? Going to have to try it out. Diesel engines aren’t known for their pep. How’s the power band? Do you really need to get on it to get it going? Or is it peppy like the 6.2?
@automotiveandmore6 ай бұрын
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad you should really check one out. It doesn't rev as high as the 6.2 so it feels different. It can do the same at lower RPM and the 10 speed does magic with that engine. The turbo diesel has a lil bit more get up and go than the 6.2 at lower RPM but the 6.2 feels more responsive at higher RPM. Now with tuning and even larger turbo, there is no question that the little Duramax blows the 6.2L out of the water. I do some of the high speed dirt roads here and my truck cruises so effortlessly compared to a gas engine at the same speed where it feels like it's screaming all the time. It is a very different driving experience.
Interesting their incorporation of a steering damper on an IFS platform. Their solution to bump steer from a suspension geometry that couldn’t be optimized without cutting into profit margins?
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad6 ай бұрын
They way they explained it was the steering rack is not optimized for offroad use like the raptor one is. Being eletronic, they tried to adjust its programming to better deal with offroad feedback and they bricked the whole system. They said so on the video. We will talk about the steering in the next video. Because IMO it still needs some work and the slow ok footage shows it

After two Raptors (2014/2017) and 22' TRX (paid $81k/factory ordered/price locked in Fall 21' (MSRP was $93,400) had to imagine the "Value" without any Manufacturer 'lineage'/years of history in this niche segment (like the 40% stronger frame on the TRX vs. REBEL). For example if Ford (or hopefully RAM revitalizing the TRX namesake) built a true HALO low production vehicle ($150k-ish).

So Fox bought Baja Kits from Brenthel and now they built a few trucks with fully bolt on kits. These are a rolling advertisement for the Kits Baja Kits/Fox will have out for the Silverado. Why else would they try and make a fully bolt on kit seem better than welding/custom framing? Just my guess.

@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad right.. i get that most people run king or fox. Exactly what makes you think they're a downgrade? Kings are pretty great when properly tuned. We run king on the racecar.. maybe you haven't experienced bilstein 8112's or m9200's, but they're a touch above. Even in a tacoma you'd need to run a bypass, coilover, bumpstops and limit straps to do what a single 8112 can do. I do however run fox oil in all my shocks
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad4 ай бұрын
I admittedly don’t know much about the blistein product lines so I looked them both up. I don’t see anything better here than what Fox or King offers. If anything I see less from bilstein. The shocks you showed are comparable with the factory race lines for oem trucks from both companies. Limited tunability and rely heavily on a good base tune for the truck. Fox and kind have way more options with a ton more features. Fox has live valves, king has integrated IFPs. So many more options from both to improve the ride and performance of these trucks. One thing stuck out to me in your comment though. You mentioned a Tacoma. A much lighter platform that is very, very underpowered. Normally used for rocks and overlanding. Seldomly used for fast off-roading. It’s completely different worlds and you will find very few running Bilstiens with high speed off-roading full size rigs for a reason.
