Absolutely used and abused the KM3's on my JLU Rubicon. 42,500 miles when I traded them and the tires still had 8/32nds. Drove cross country twice from VA-Montana and then VA-Utah. Miles and miles of trails mud snow rock crawling moab. Started getting loud around 35k miles but nothing like your video. Had great experiences with Ko2's in the past and hated the KM2's but the km3's made me feel unstoppable off road.

We actually heard that a lot from jeeps and Tacomas running KO2s and KM3s. I think weight plays a big factor. Raptors are usually 1500 lbs heavier. Mine is at 7000 lbs empty. So weight definitely impacts noise and wear for sure.

Thanks for the video and I agree, my K02s lost almost all their grip while driving in the rain when I was stationed in Florida. It rained there so much I had to get rid of them ASAP because of the possibility of hydroplaning. Truthfully, the best tire I have ever owned is the Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme. Relatively quiet, smooth on the pavement, plenty of grip while off-roading and sticky in the rain. Also come with a warranty and the tread is wearing slowly. My one knock on them is that they do run a bit narrow as compared to other 12.5s.

I've ran the same tires you have.. and in different sizes. The ones I've been stuck on now have been the Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 37x17s. All my trucks are running them. Great tread wear and life. Great mild offroad tire for towing rigs. Great offroad tires for actual wheeling, and also highway tires.. decent in rain, but honestly nit as great in snow and ice, as the bfg KO2s are. Only reason I loved the KO2s were because of snow days and traction on snowed in roads/trails. Just hated how fast they wore out. But Ridge Grapplers have taken a beating and still lots of life and balance out well. I recommend you try them out. Keep up the great content sir 🤘🏼

Oh Gosh! I remember our 2010 Raptor had BFgoodrich Ko's and they had a lot of dry rot but great tread left and I was always paranoid of a blow out, so we switched to Ko2's and I do see they are safer but I had considered going with KM3's and thankfully I didn't and your video is an awesome representation of how KM3's are not it! As always awesome video! love the channel always!

Yeah we mostly hear it from the Midwest guys. Are you Mostly on pavement? What kind of trail you running offroad? Here in SoCal and Baja, trails can get pretty rough and they chew up any tire. So the KO2s wear out quick down here. I haven’t don’t much off-roading in the Midwest. What I have hit was just sand and some forest trails that were pretty tame. Nothing like the sand and rocks we see down here.

That’s crazy. I have KM3s 39x13.5 and have over 40k miles on them. They have been in rain, snow, mud, sand, rock crawling, etc…and I’ve had no problems with them considering the abuse I put them through. Traction has been great especially considering I don’t have lockers. I just finished the Rubicon 2 weeks ago and went up Cadillac Hill in the rain with only LSD in the rear and open diff in the front. They are still pretty quiet on the road. I might run them again, but they have went up in price by about $250 a tire since I purchased them in 2021.

There is the key right there. Based on the tracks you hit in guessing these are on a Jeep or small truck. We always hear from you guys that they are great. But you guys are much lighter than the full size trucks by at least 1500lbs or more and some of those rigs don’t hit the speeds we do. Raptors don’t keep grip to crawl, we rarely crawl them. We need the ability to go fast and slide a turn to keep momentum. KM3s grip mid slide unpredictably and have a ton of extra noise with a heavier load. Different offroad requires different tires. KM3s are at home with low pressure climbing rocks and that’s what they are means for. Not prerunning trails at high speeds

Funny no one else is saying this and I can attest to them being great tires. The road noise on my KM3 37x13.50x20R tires is the lowest I've ever had with ANY mud terrain and that is a fact. Have you even considered you got a bad batch of covid tires? Cooper has reported similar poor quality with tires manufactured during this time as well and there are probably more. Then you could just be bashing BFG so they reach out to you so 'make it right' and offer you a fresh set lmao.

Check the comments man. Lots of guys having the same issues. Getting tons of pictures too sent to me on IG of guys having similar blow outs and same issues with noice and KO2s wearing out quick. It really depends on what you’re running them on. Jeeps and light duty trucks love them. Low noise, great grip and they last. But those running them on full size trucks have a different experience. Then there is the raptor factor where we are running much faster and just have different needs from a tire. The KM3 is just the wrong tire for high speed off-roading.

Probably another 20-30k I can get out of these no problem. 1500 off road miles so far. Did Moab and Colorado pretty hard. They grip and they are hard to break loose in the rain with moderate to slight heavy throttle. These exps interest me due to weight. The Baja bosses are a bit heavier. They do bogg some in the sand. They instantly turn into drag slicks the second they touch this Southern California clay gunk. I'm currently looking at the Falken Wildpeak AT3W and the MT Baja Boss AT in a load range E but it seems like 90% of the reviews I'm reading/seeing are on little Tacomas and Wranglers far lighter than this 3 ton boar.

And Jeeps are loud enough to begin with when it comes to wind noise and such. So be able to at least minimize the tire noise was a godsend and they also have the 3 peak snow rating, that MT's don't get.

Would have to research them. MTs are the ones I’ve seen as well. Seems like every big offroad KZbinr I follow had them for jeeps. But have not heard anyone with a Raptor running them and that is my hesitation. Raptors are heavier by at least 1500+ lbs than jeeps. And we’ve seen guys swear by KO2s and KM3s with those lighter vehicles. But the extra weight makes a difference and is Raptor guys have a different experience. Will have to do some research h on the milestar XTs to see if it’s something worth trying in the future

Wasn't sure if it was just me, but I have always had what I thought was bad luck with BFG. I had multiple sidewall punches on my personal vehicle. When I was a wildland firefighter, we ran them on our vehicles their were multiple times all 3 of our trucks were running on spares we were popping them so fast we were thinking we are screwed if another one pops. Even had one blow out on the freeway heading to a fire big noise a lot of dust knocked out from under the truck and huge swerve luckily I didn't crash.

It is terrible in the soup, Ultimately, you need a dedicated mud tire. I've run toyo MTs for the better part of 100k between 2 sets, and my most recent set of tires is a severe letdown. Amy tire will fail if overheated or over speeded... 16:16 the tire you picked is a old dick cepek design with 2ply sidewall, and are known to not take abuse well.... (i live in rock and granite country) I have run ko2 and km3 on my land cruisers for many years have a set that have been running in the rocks are 8+ years old, and lots of miles at 20psi in rocks, with 7k lbs on them and they still ballance out with no issues.. Hope you find a tire that works for you...
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad
@KeepItDirtyOffRoad 4 ай бұрын
I run 28 psi and when this happened I was only going 40 mph. Now we do very different off-roading with very different weight vehicles. I do high speed off-roading and run higher pressures display because of the speed. Trucks also can weight up to 7500lbs so we are much heavier and putting different loads on the tires. This happened after a slow section on a smooth down hill. Tire should not have failed the way it did. I’ve seen tires completely shred when someone kept running on it. But here the cords stayed connected to the side wall while the side walls split from the tread. Almost like how a retreaded tire would fail and the tread rip off. Now your off-roading is very different. Your typically going much much slower and running much lower presssure. The KM3 shines in the slow stuff and rocks. But for high speed off-roading, it’s awful.
